WE THE PEOPLE are supposed to help solve our own problems.

To quote Ronaldus Magnus: "Government is the problem". Get the gubmint out of our lives and many, if not most, of the problem will go away on their own.....

If Fred is just like ‘all of us’, I sure don’t want him as my next president. No offense to y’all, but I I sure as heck wouldn’t want my next door neighbor or anyone else I know to run the country. They can’t even keep their own lives in order let alone that of 300 million people.
I don’t want a president who is “like” me or my associates. I want one who is much better - surely we deserve more than the next door neighbor who leaves his dogs out till 2 AM or the one who has decided that the wild look is in when it comes to landscaping. “Like me”. No. I’ll stick with Romney - I prefer someone who is better than the average Joe.

Interesting article. The writer sounds like he doesn’t want to like Fred, but does, and doesn’t like himself for it. ;o)

Such sentiments are confusing to the national press, an ambitious crowd that distrusts those who brag of meandering through life.

FEAR THE FRED

Fred’s a likeable guy.

Hillary is also a guy but not a very likeable one.

LOL! You got that right.

Gosh. I didn't know I was a highly-paid movie and television actor, a former U.S. Senator, and a decades-long Washington insider. Who knew?

All of we Fredheads are. :)

Willard?? WILLARD?? WILLARD?!

Fred certainly has the MOST presidential name, that's for sure. ;-)

"FRED DALTON THOMPSON FOR PRESIDENT 2008"

Yup. It rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? :-)

“avuncular”, “folksy” and I might add "laconic". Are words the media uses on a regular basis to describe Fred.

And he's all of those.

Republican Presidential Nomination, Thompson is on top for the first time since late July. The former Tennessee Senator is currently the top choice for 26% of Likely Republican Primary Voters. Rudy Giuliani, who has been the frontrunner for most of the year, is close behind with support from 22%.

Not bad for only being an announced candidate for 5 days!

“I sure don’t want him as my next president. No offense to y’all”

You may put a disclaimer on it, but you post it on a thread about Fred. I do take offense. I don’t do that to other candidates [unless they attack mine]. It is highly offensive and really bad manners to do something like that. This isn’t an attack forum although many people treat it that way.

Most of the time I let it slide off and don’t say anything. Sometimes these posts like yours just pile up too high and too deep, like today. Please quit this drivel.

I was at the Music Man Square last Friday night...it wouldn’t have been so cramped if the tv cameras had set up a bit further back...other than that it was a great venue! It really sparked that down-home small-town image. He spoke at great length about his folks and upbringing in small town USA.

At this point Fred is the only viable choice for a conservative, its that simple. I think Fred will make a great President in his own right and may very well be as equally effective as Washington or Reagan without being their double.

You're welcome to feel that way, but I disagree. I'd prefer Duncan Hunter or Mitt Romney over Fred Thompson. If I had to choose between Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani, I'd vote for Mr. Thompson, but he's still a weak candidate and certainly not the savior that his supporters try to portray.

A Hillary presidency will simply be the end of an America you and I take for granted.....

No, just as the Giuliani supporters were wrong to claim that it was either "Rudy or Hillary," the Thompson supporters are also wrong to claim that it is either "Fred or Hillary." America still has plenty of time to consider options and make other choices. If you want to vote for Mr. Thompson, that's your choice, but the notion that your candidate is our only option other than Hillary is just nonsense.

well, if you’re done sucking all the fun out of my post...

You have my applause for a clever reply. I don't trust Mr. Thompson very much, but he may end up being president. If so, I hope he'll be as good a president as you believe that he'll be.

The concept of the citizen in government. Term limits in action. Thanks for this post.
