Well, seeings how they found some of her blood in the car they rented some time AFTER she went “missing”... this is not exactly unexpected.

Because they know we're getting tired of the gong on a New/ Old hijacker tape. So they've gonged up something else to distract us.

I miss the police chases and shep smith getting his panties in a bunch...

Mrs. Ramsey is dead, and can't be charged. But that three-page, written "ransom" note, written with materials present in the house, and demanding a ransom amount which exactly matched a bonus the husband had received just days before, suggest overwhelmingly to me that the Ramsays are responsible for the death and cover-up of their own daughter.

The truth about the Ramsay murder will, I think, go to the grave with Mr. Ramsay. It looks like the truth in the Portugal child (abduction?) murder will not go to the grave.

Especially in light of possible Portuguese police incompetence (think Aruba).

A lot of people are alleging that the Portuguese are somehow inherently corrupt (perhaps a holdover from The Black Legend) - when it looks like we have first responders from a beachfront community who normally deal with purse snatchings and hashish smugglers, not forensics-intensive disappearances. The locals were in over their heads.

Surely an accidental mismedication would not be prosecutable?

I have no clue how the law works exactly in the EU - but generally you are going to get in trouble if you practice medicine in a jurisdiction where you are not licensed to practice (unless it is emergency care to someone in danger of death or severe injury), and I am going to guess that the McCanns are only licensed in the UK.

Moreover, if they did medicate her, they weren't medicating her for a legitimate complaint that required sedatives.

Further, I doubt any drugs she was given were legally prescribed to her in her name, but were likely taken from a prescription intended for one of her parents.

I think the Portuguese police were wise to let the McCanns go home (for now). It’s not as if the McCanns can escape, and letting them go home diffuses some of the outrage many people feel on behalf of the McCanns.

Any of you know what “category” of Dr. the parents are? Might have some bearing regarding a miscalculation of dosage...

IF that is what might have taken place! And, I say again.... IF!

I’m sorry, but there are Doctors in my family, and I strongly disagree that is a common practice. It is not.

It certainly happens. It may not be an everyday thing, but it happens.

I have never intentionally sedated my children. When my son was sick and needed good sleep I gave him the correct does for his age of Benedryl to take. My doctor told me I could. But if the McCann’s sedated their children heavily to keep them asleep while they go out than I think that is sick.

Heck, I think is is irresponsible for them to leave the children in their hotel room to go out!

I want to know the evidence they have before I think the McCann’s are guilty of the manslaughter that Kate McCann is going to be charged with.

Do accidental overdoses sometimes lead to bleeding? If the child’s blood was found in the rental car, how would this be explained by an accidental overdose?

At least they have enough money and were to cheap to hire a nanny???!!!

Even though they are physicians, they work for the UK National Health Service. Probably make a third of what the average US physician makes. Even so, if they can afford to vacation in Portugal, they can afford a nanny for a couple of hours instead of leaving 3 kids under 4 alone in a hotel room.

FoxNews is just now reporting that the British police (London) have ‘strong’ forensic evidence and surveillance evidence against Mrs. and possibly Mr. McCann. They are wanting to charge Mrs. McCann with manslaughter.

The police are grasping at straws and trying to deflect from their own unbelievable incompetence.

The local authorities were clearly overmatched in terms of training and resources by the situation they were confronted with.

But their first procedural mistake was to trust that the parents were giving them the full story. In a major European or American city, the police would automatically consider the parents "persons of interest" at least unofficially, and the police interviewing the parents would grill them quite closely.

I know almost nothing about this case. Did these parents actually leave their child unattended at night in a foreign country while they went out to dinner? That in itself is beyond negligent. Who can honestly say they didn’t know that was a foolish idea?

Good thoughts all. I didn’t know the whole story until I read more on this thread. If these theories are true, then the McCanns didn’t medicate for a legitimate reason. I had a child who was as difficult as any small child and I would NEVER have considered sedating her. I may have dreamed about it but would never have done it.

Those are all excellent points and could possibly explain what happened to that beautiful little baby girl. How sad ... to have left her alone all that time with no one to watch over her ... they should have hired a nanny or they should have left the children home if the point of the holiday was romantic dinners with friends. Bad decisions all around ... or cover ups for bad decisions. Either way, that poor child to have such idiots for parents.

I never understood how this couple went out and left their small children in a room all alone, and in a foreign country, it never made sense to me, and at the very least to me indicates non-loving parents.
