Haig never wore a CAB as it is a new award that has only been awarded since the start of the GWOT. He probably wore a CIB (Combat Infantryman’s Badge) which he earned as a junior officer in WWII (or Korea). Patraeus may have been awarded the CAB-I am unsure of the regulation-but combat badges are generally not awarded to senior officers.

* Bronze Star Medal (with “V” Device)

Petraus was awarded this medal. I am guessing during the initial invasion of Iraq. This is the medal the Daily Kook is lying about.

Haig had 3 awards of the CIB, the last of which he got while commanding the 1/26th Inf, after which he got his Bird and took over the 3rd Bde, Ist Inf Div, APO SF 96345 in mid-67.
