Unexploded Rocket-Propelled Grenade Impales Army Private in Afghanistan By RUTH REISS
[snip]
One RPG skidded past Lt. Mariani's vehicle. All of the vehicles had to quickly get out of the "kill zone." But before they could get to safety, two rockets hit Pvt. Moss' Humvee.
Staff Sgt. Eric Wynn, 33, the soldier in the front passenger seat, felt one slice through his face. Moss remembers the truck practically lift up. He was thrown up against the Humvee and then moved to return fire.
"I smelled something smoking and I looked down ... and I was smoking," he said.
Wynn turned to tell Moss where to fire and saw the tail fins of the RPG sticking out of Moss' side.
Roughly the length of a baseball bat, an RPG travels at the speed of a bullet. At the front end is the warhead -- a large grenade. The detonator and fuel are contained in the shaft. On the back are its fins, pieces of metal that stick out like legs on a camera tripod. The RPG is the weapon of choice for many of the world's guerillas.
Luckily for Moss, the company medic Spc. Jared Angell, 23, who the soldiers call "Doc," was in his Humvee

A Human Bomb The RPG that had plowed into Moss' lower abdomen stretched from one hip to the other. If the RPG went off, it would kill everyone within 30 feet of him. Yet Angell stayed close, bandaging his wounds and stabilizing the weapon so that movement wouldn't cause it to explode.
Moss was still fully conscious, so Angell ordered him to not look down at the injury. He didn't want Moss to panic.

Now THAT is scary!
Happy Halloween!
He’s killed 100’s of threads because he can’t spell, and his grammar is worse than mine.
I usually have the TV on low during the day, for “company.” I seldom watch it at night, especially since MNF went to ESPN.
And there aren’t an awful lot of shows that are worth watching at night. To me, anyway. But then, I’m kinda wierd. The only two sit-coms I’ve ever watched were M*A*S*H and Home Improvement. And neither of them while they were in prime time.
There used to be a show called Dance Fever, with Denny Terrio, that I really liked, and I watched the first season of Dancing With The Stars, but I just can’t do it, now. It takes too much out of me. (I was a dancing fool before I got ill...)
(I know what you mean Face, me too.) I watch it, and I want to do it, but I'm having a great day if my knees work, so who am I kidding?
I’ve been turning ESPN off lately, because they are getting a little too PC. I watch news and the occasional show or two, that’s about it.
That is entirely possible...
Elephants have theirs up front but I don’t think any other 4 footers do.
A little recalibration...
You are rarer than pearls.
Sorry you haven’t been feeling well.. Hug.
I’m in....
I used to go just about every weekend, when I lived up in Idaho; danced alotta 80’s pop. Went back up there a few years after I’d gone back to L.A. and the club was still there, but they’d changed over to a stinkin’ rap format.
We pulled up looking to ahve a great time, and there’s all these wannabe “homies” hangin’ off the front steps trying to cop a big city ‘tude, and looking like complete idiots, IMO. Just imagine some kid fresh outta the sticks; biggest town he’s ever been to is Boise, and here he is trying to act like the next inductee into the Cryps.
Haven’t seen that one, no.

Good night everyone.
:-)
Thanks! (It comes with the territory!)
Did you do the things I told you to do?
Thanks for that YouTube link.
A smashing number, that. Simply smashing.
I hope, one day, to dance somewere remotely approaching that well.
