I picked that up as well as did more people than you likely think. Listening to the translator I noticed how he danced around making sure to mention “the Prophets”, etc. He specifically placed Mohammad last. He was definitely trying to put people at ease, but I doubt he fooled many people. Enlighten me if you would. The 12th Imam?
An eschatological figure (somewhat tangentially analogous to the Messianic figure of Christianity or Judaism) to some Muslims. They believe he will be ushered in by world chaos to bring peace (read: Islamic Caliphate). I believe the Dirty Yak phrased it as "the promised One" towards the end of the speech. The "twelvers" believe they can usher in the Mahdi (12th Imam) by fomenting violence and chaos. The knowledge of this transforms his little religious formulations from simple recitation into something far more troubling. Thus, almost no one is talking about it.
Can you imagine if George Bush started his speeches with "May Jesus come quickly and make us all His own" or some such formulation?
Here’s the exact quote with which he closes.
“O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence of your last repository, the promised one, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace.”
Reiterating the notion that Mohammed (Pox Be Upon Him) was the last prophet. Ever.
