Republicans in the Senate Defying Bush

"Senate Republicans are largely defying President Bush in what is shaping up as the most confrontational spending battle in more than a decade.

With the budget debate set to escalate this month, GOP senators are expected to side with Democrats in voting for spending bills that Bush has promised to veto, as they have done overwhelmingly so far. By contrast, the House GOP has vowed to sustain Bush’s promised vetoes of most of the 12 annual funding measures, having largely voted against spending plans that have exceeded the president’s request. To the Democrats, there's never enough spending. Republicans seem scared that Dems will accuse them of "not caring about children."

Republicans in the Senate Defying Bush

What a joke.

They need him to sign their pork-spending bills. He needs them to create them.

Yeah, when Bush is finally conservative with a spending bill, GOP members of congress don’t agree to do the same.

The United States Senate is the root of America’s problems.

The good news is, every day one of them announces they aren't going to run in the next election. "Gonna spend more time with the family." But that's cool. The GOP needs some new blood.

When was the last time you heard a DemocRAT say they weren't going to run? LOL! They usually just go straight from the Senate or the House to the morgue.

Since the “republican” senators have no more credibility than Bush they can defy him. I’m afraid a lot of them are going to be former senators.

Thou shalt not Infringe upon a Politician’s pork.

I believe it’s in the Bible somewhere....

I find this laughable. All the pork they crave didn’t save one seat last election. It won’t save one next year either. It did succeed in turning fiscally conservative citizens against them, it corrupted members like Ted Stevens.

Added these Republicans have been blaming the president for not VETO’ing a spending bill for years, they have begged it of him, then he does and the weasels turn tail and run.

I disagree. We forget that President Bush caves to Republican spending most of the time. It is only the immigration policies of President Bush that most conservatives disagree. You cannot blame President Bush for all the stupidity of RINOs. That is the voter’s fault.
Republicans in Congress have let us down more than President Bush. I will accept all of President Bush’s domestic mistakes - in my opinion - because he is the absoulte leader in the war on terrorism. He stands alone, with very few Congressional supporters, in verbally taking on the anti-American left and terrorism.

My only problem is, that if you get rid of the RINOs, you assure Democrat control of the Senate for the foreseeable future. Do you want Reid, Harkin, Schumer, and the rest of the bastards in power?

I’d rather have Democrats than gutless RINOs who stab conservatives in the back.

That is positively idiotic. Just one obvious reason you don't want that. Judges. Hand the whole lot to the Democrats just because you are throwing a petulant fit about not getting 100% of ONLY what you want and you get 3 Hillary clones on the Supreme Court. That would be a far greater set back to the future of this country then any stupid spending bill. It would give the Clintonides power to significantly influence the Govt for the next 20-30 years AFTER Hillary is out of office.
