Romney can go second:

“These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Thompson goes third; >NATIONAL REVIEW; "Waiting on Fred" Aug 27 2007: The Supreme Court, and judicial issues in general, are Thompson's strong suit. Not only does he have the background-the Watergate investigation, the Senate Judiciary Committee, private practice, and the job of guiding John Roberts through his confirmation hearings-he also knows the conservative legal stars who would likely be candidates for the Court in coming years. But he won't name names, beyond the men already there, "I like Roberts and Alito and Scalia and Thomas" he tells me. "We're in a heck of a lot better shape because of Roberts and Alito, and one more gain would put us in even better shape." Should he become president, Thompson would undoubtedly try to nominate that elusive fifth conservative. ============================================================ Image and video hosting by TinyPic

That “list” has been debunked many times in other threads. The site is run by Ron Paulite moonbats!

So why don't We ask them. surely they have at least lurkers here.

So which gun control laws would they repeal, and keep in mind that they do not have to limit that to three.

Open season. No bag limit.

My bet is that he's far more likely to nominate a fellow member of the Council on Foreign Relations, to replace the now-absent CFR member Sandra Day O'Connor.

Laurence H. (Larry) Silberman is a good bet for the job, a Reagan apointee who can claim conservative credentials but who is *in on the joke.* Indeed, there were those who thought he was going to get the Attorney General's job after Gonzales, but it appears that he's being saved for something better.

My bet is that you don’t make your living making wacky conspiracy bets.

I don’t think that Fred would appoint a retired judge that will be about 73 or 74 when the time comes.

Fred Thompson did great work with Roberts, I would like to see what he could do with the Supreme Court as President.

I'm semiretired but made my bones as a photographer and stringer from 1970 to March '78 for the Chicago Daily News, my first lead story being what was to have supposed to have been a nice local-boy-does-good story on the 1972 Olympics, which turned into something more. Through the 1980s and 90's i was a syndicated newspaper columnist for a midwestern newspaper chain and 1991 Beidler Award for columns on Desert Shield/Strorm/Sabre, followed by holding the de facto Memphis/midsouth [Memphis-Little Rock-Nashville] bureau of World Net Daily during the Clinton-Gore period.

Had Gore carried his *home* state of Tennessee, he wouldn't have needed the disputed electoral votes in Florida to have carried the day. Whether it would have been better or not to have had him in the White House on 09/11 and subsequently is a question best unanswered.

In 2004, when George Bush said that "There is no vacancy on the Supreme Court," and "I'll deal with a vacancy when there is one," the youngest Supreme Court justice was 56 years old, the oldest 83.

Interesting biography, but Fred is not going to appoint a 74 year old man to the Supreme Court.

It is one thing to grow old on the court, but now days presidents do not want to appoint already old men to it.
