Such as folks find out about the real Rudy.

I keep remembering how certain the media was that Howard Dean would take Iowa in 2004 until the last 24 hours before the caucus. You almost didn’t hear John Kerry mentioned at all until then.

I think Romney can win the nomination. I think Thompson could as well. If they stand up and make illegal immigration and border security the top issue.

That’s good to know. From reading what Dick Morris and Sean Hannity have said at Fox News, well, I thought it was a given that it would be Rudy vs Hillary! election.

Let’s hope it gets shook up by a dynamic, patriotic candidate!

Agree. Illegal immigration positions should rule the day, but I doubt if Hillary will ever be asked about her positions.

Thompson and the GOP front runners have failed to make this an issue. They need to stand up and take the fight to her. Everyday amnesty and border security should be the top issue of the front runners.

Senator Kyle knows how to make it an issue. He was going to force 12 to 20 million down our throats. Guiliani has a similar platform and he is immensely popular. The world is turned upside down. I doubt if Guiliani will ever mention it as long as his poll numbers are up.

I feel link I’m on the deck of the Titanic sometimes as a republican.

Even if his current support is solid (which you are hypothesizing it isn’t when you suggest folks finding out about ‘the real Rudy’ will shake things up) his lead does not translate into the nomination.

After a few primaries, two weeks after Super Tuesday at the lastest, Brownback, Tancredo, Hunter and, unless there’s some major surprises, McCain and Huckabee will have dropped out, and the vast majority of their supporters will have chosen between Thompson and Romney. At that point, it’s either a two or three man race (if Romney doesn’t win NH convincingly, and isn’t leading Thompson after Super Tuesday, I think he’ll drop out, too).

It might end up being Thompson (or an outside chance Romney) on the second ballot at the convention, but it will be one of them, not Rudy, not McCain, and not any of the five dwarfs (Keyes being the fifth—he won’t drop out because he makes his living by running for President).

I really haven't made up my mind who I like. Fred, maybe. Wish Newt would have run. But all emotion aside, I think Rudy has a better shot than any Republican of beating Hillary! The one reason is because he's centrist enough to be capable of taking some big democratic states like California, New York, Illinois and others.

Rudy could be Nixon against Hillary's! McGovern.

Or not. One thing is sure, Republicans are often hell bent on getting perfection that they end up with the same thing the Libertarians get. Nothing. And for the same reason.

I don't feel wound up enough to argue about it so flames are wasted here.

Romney cannot carry the South. He may win the nomination, but it will cost us the race.
