I had the impression that the charge sought was too much for the circumstances and assume the jury didn’t have the choice to opt for a lesser charge. Is that what happened here, the prosecution aimed too high?

I don’t think the prosecutor wanted a conviction of any sort. If he did, why did he put on a medical expert that undermined the prosecution argument?

SUSAN CANDIOTTI: Oh huge. This is the main evidence, isn't it? And as one of the prosecutors said, "there might not be sound on this tape, but it is screaming at you, 'why didn't someone do something?'" So Candiotti thinks we need to come to a conclusion for which there is no evidence. Huh. Sounds like a lib.
