Hmm. I don’t know that I agree with Rush at all. I think it has a lot more to do with the rising influence of the Armenian community in the US. That, and the fact that it was in fact genocide...

The point is that the only reason the ‘RATS are bringing it up for a vote at this specific time is to undermine our relationship with Turkey as a vital ally in the WOT.

I am a quarter Armenian, my great grandmother had to leave to come to the USA to escape while pregnant with my grandfather, and...whether genocide or not, I definitely agree this is rats at work.

I think we have MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES than THIS right now, beginning with NOT making northern Iraq more DANGEROUS for OUR MEN!

And that is EXACTLY what this might do. Sure, it is something that can be discussed, but the situation is fragile.

So you think that getting the Senate to vote that Germany (not Hitler, not the Nazis, but Germany) committed genocide 65 years ago would be a good idea?

The Turkey today and the Turkey 90 years ago are two totally different countries.

I’m in the same boat. I want to condemn genocide no matter where and when, but at the same time the Dem’s have brought it up now for the purpose of weakening Turkey’s support during the War on Terror.

That would be okay...but Congress has alrady done this a couple times before.

Don’t you find the timing odd?

The fact of the matter is there have already been at least two resolutions in the past condemning Turkey(which of course was under the old Ottoman government when this happened), the last one being in 1984. There is no earthly reason to do this now except for the fact that the Dems want to undermine the war effort anyway they can. . Just another hit by the cowardly dems in the mad dash to surrender and to lose the war before the elections.

Yep, let's wait 90 years and then suddenly decide to blast the best Allie we have in the ME. The turks have already pulled the diplomatic mission from the states because of this and if it passes in both houses they will cut off our supply routes through their country. Believe what you will, I believe it is exactly as Rush says.
