Duquesne University and public station WDUQ-FM are getting static over last week's controversial decision to pull public service ads underwritten by Planned Parenthood.

Duquesne ordered WDUQ (90.5) to stop airing a series of underwritten messages from the reproductive rights and health-care education group, saying that Planned Parenthood isn't aligned with the university's Catholic mission and that the station isn't required to accept donations.

The series of ads promoted prevention, including health screenings and education.

As if listeners don't know PP's full "services" list... How dare a CATHOLIC university conform to the CATHOLIC church's tenets!

Frankly, I consider NPR to be the scourge of radio diversity. There once was a time when “college radio” was filled with alternative music and discussion. Yes, “alternative” frequently meant liberal politics and nihilistic music, but it often meant simply diverse, including classical, folk, rockabilly, gospel, blues, classic-rock, roots, and country music. Had it survived, I honestly expect that there’d be many talk shows resembling Free Republic. And liberals would at least tell you “how they really felt.”

Today, every college radio station across America plays the same god-awful, whining, sanitized-if-not-saneitized, establishment liberalism, even if there are seventeed other universities in the same market playing the same insipid nonsense. Ditch NPR, and use EWTN until you’ve got your own production capacities running full steam, Duquesne.

Don’t just posture about it.

Donate to the station saying you’re doing it specifically becasue of what they did.

Used to listen to DUQ years ago when I lived in the ‘Burgh area....they always played an odd assortment of weird rock and Dr. Demento type stuff. Don’t ever remember Duquesne U. acting particularly Catholic in those days - I still remember one Monday morning when a young man, obviously still recuperating from the weekend’s prayer services and youth group events, was stuggling mightily to read the news and calling upon the Lord’s name with every other breath......

I made a brief stop on the radio dial at 1360 this morning just in time to hear Lynn Cullen's wailing and gnashing of her teeth as she scolded Duquesne for not accepting Planned Parenthood's ad money. How DARE a PUBLIC radio station not accept money from a LIBERAL icon.

She then went on to decry the US for being the only dissenting vote in the UN (188-1) on a resolution banning life sentences without parole for convicted minors. How can the US allow CHILDREN to be "buried alive by the judicial system"? To rob these CHILDREN of their future, their very LIVES, was just dang near criminal.

What a back to back combo of rants, how dare Catholics not offer tacit endorsement of abortion by taking the money of baby killers, then how dare the US condemn convicted murderers to LIFE in prison.

Kill the innocent and coddle the guilty.

I'm sure Lynn Cullen will be leaving this life soon, she's got her head so far in her arse, she'll be drowning in stomach acid any day now.
