UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

LA County just dispatched a bunch of units to Soledad Canyon...
Green Valley Fire (Slide Fire) is burning SW into Running Springs town. Lots of Boy Scout and church camps there too in the forest.
Those look like “space blankets”... I thank God they made it out alive. What a scary picture; it could have been all over for them...
North County Other than Oceanside) is either under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders...
Nite...I am stopping soon also!
hey LE! been ages....I hope that you’re keeping well...
Rancho Sante Fe in SD county
Firefighters fought the fire back...lots of areas burnt and came up to alot of houses but only one or two burnt according to a news producer
Thanks! I think CLD would appreciate that we’re thinkin’ of her. :-)
Your description of RB etc is heartbreaking!
145,000 acres. Has there ever been a fire that big?
Wrap it in tinfoil..with butter and throw it in the camp fire...works with trout.,...
the wind is driving the fire back into RSF, though...
I looked up and the header has been changed to be inclusive of all.
Pictures on Ch. 9 now of fire in Santa Clarita... this is also the Canyon Country fire?

Hi sofaman...HUGS...I sent you a ping much earlier but it’s easy to miss pings these days... thought about you this a.m.
Looks like the wind is still cranking through out of the east. Tomorrow is gonna be almost as bad as today. The numbers will be devastating.
I have a friend who lives right around there, only they call it a “mobile home park.” All the mobile homes look like little houses, with porches, gardens. It’s the same area and I pray it’s not my friend’s place.
Been getting a lot of smoke since early evening here. The air had pretty much cleared out in the afternoon then whammo.
God, it would be so wonderful to have a miracle rainstorm...
Just rain... no lightning...
There are people in those mobile homes
KCAL just stopped for the evening..any more live LA feeds?
last live shot showing trailer park on fire
Here in San Diego County the Cedar Fire in 2003 burned about 280,000 acres.
The one this year in Utah burned about 360,000 acres.
In 1988, the Yellowstone NP fire burned almost 800,000.
Maybe not the largest, but a good bet this one might be one of the most expensive.
Thank you, Ernest. Prayers for your kin that they aren’t in any of the fire or smoke areas.
Not during a La Nina. Now the Chinese claim to have the ability to create rain. Looks like we need more super scoopers and helicopters.
That’s a very frightening picture. I hope all the firefighters were able to get to safety.
KABC 7 is covering the new fires right now.
You can tell it’s an emergency when the news people drop the PC terms. They called it a trailer park.
I’m sure it is delightful and a sweet place to live, well.... was.
Not sure on smoke status here, since it’s dark out, but I don’t smell it. I could see it late afternoon and sunlight was hazy. Eyes kind of burning.
14 FIRES BURNING IN SO CAL.
I think 15, including the Sta Clarita one.
I don't know. To me, it just seems unimaginable. And it hasn't seemed to slow down much. Hopefully, the air crews are up bright and early tomorrow and the winds subside. Fingers crossed!
Gasp... oh, no... horrible.
thank you..I didn’t see it, but appreciate you thinking of us... it’s a bit of a mess here... full house tonight...two sets of friends with their doggies and kiddies are with us after having been evacuated from Scripps Ranch and Del Mar respectively..
hey Count...up late again, huh?
CM may have a live feed link....?
this was adjacent to the boat yard....
apartment building now threatened.
Thanks for info. I sure remember the Cedar Fire... This reminds me so much of that. This year in total may be worse than that, don’t know...
Just hoping it’s a different one than where my friend lives. People are losing homes all over. Very sad.
They were... they made it out, thank God.
Good to see you, LE...
Oh my, a memorable occasion for all. I hope some of you manage some sleep and that your friends’ homes are spared after all.
Thanks for all the updates and links everyone. My Father-in-law and his wife live in Cardiff so I am really trying to keep a close watch.
Prayers for all in harms way..May God protect the firefighters.
Same here, I pray your friend’s home was spared...
It is sad as hundreds of homes have burned in SD County.
