Oddly, of the three of them, Fred looks the oldest. I wouldn't expect certain voter demographics, such as the soccer moms and swing voters, to ignore it.

That's where the ages of his wife and kids can help. He's obviously young enough in some ways.

“Because those call-in type polls are not accurate and one person can vote many times. Paul supporters are notorious for spamming polls.”

Thank you, that is helpfull information.

No that was Huckabee.

McCain’s best comment was that he was tied up at the time of Woodstock.

“Great, except Huckabee is less of a conservative than Romney is.”

OK, by what rule of measure? I’m a moral conservative with some other things mixed in. My big three issues are Abortion (ending it), Homosexuality (suppressing it), and Firearms (maintaining the individula right viewpoint). On those three issues Huckabee is right on, and probably the most so.

Now I’m not saying I’m voting for Huckabee, I’m leaning towards Fred. I was merely stating that, based upon statements reported from the debate, Huckabee looked to be the most mature of the group.

“A poll that uses text-message balloting in 2007 is analogous to using a telephone poll in 1932 (which poll, by the way, predicted Hoover would beat Roosevelt decisively). Focus groups aren’t much better, but even the guy (Luntz?) running Fox’s focus group said that the text-message results were whack.”

Also useful information. Thank you.

“The one who calls anti-amnesty proponents “racists?” No thanks!”

The question wasn’t whether you like a candidate’s, like Huckabee’s positions; which it isn’t my intention to defend or denigrate. The question was how can you, except your own wants/desires declare that Senator Thompson won the debate. Rudy’s guys are probably saying the same thing.

There has to be some objected measure by which this can be judged. It seems to me, that what effect did the debate have on undecideds is most important. Most have already firmly fixed themselves upon a single candidate. It is the undecideds that count. How did this group perceive the debate, who were they most impressed with?

I hate to break to you all but FReepers are the most notorious poll-spammers on the internet.

We did it several times a day in the pre-Bush era.

I will not vote for someone that has a false god and that believes he will be a god, and that believes jesus and Lucifer are brothers both conceived by the god of this world and his wives.

If he can buy that crap he is not suitable to run this country.

Sorry no Mormon will ever get my vote. I have to answer to God (not the Mormon god) for my vote. I will not honor anyone that has a false god .

If God has ordained Mitt to be president I will honor the position even if I think the man is a spiritually blind fool in fancy underwear.

Hey that underwear is supposed to protect Mormons..may be we could save on the secret service detail... after all the underwear is magic!

"I myself, would like a Thompson/Hunter ticket."

That would be a winning ticket... and could possibly lead to a conservative residing in the Whitehouse until 2022!

Been preaching that since, uh, sometime around Feb-March. IT IS a winning ticket and a very strategic combination on more that a single level.

Now if Duncan will just see the light and start running for President... in 2016 when he actually has a chance instead of pursuing loosing a Presidential race in 2008. They need to team up, put a Thompson-Hunter Administration platform into writing and sell it to the voters.

But Duncan must make the move. Fred is a bit too gentlemanly to just up and suggest to Duncan that he give up, even if asking him to join the FDT Team with the very next breath.

I’ll forget all the votes in favor of pro life and ignore the fact he was an attoney do his job.

I think that was the SS's excuse "just doing my job!" Character takes a stand. Congressmen and Senators stand for what ever will get them elected. I think one's personal life reflects one's real position, beliefs and backbone much more clearly .

I can’t grasp how you could have reasoned things around to that.

I’ve got the “Mormonism is a cult” part sussed, but I can’t grok the part about never voting for anyone who’s values and principles parallel the bible just because they don’t see eye-to-eye with you on core doctrines. What, are you afraid that Mitt would use the Presidency as a marketing tool to proselytize for LDS HQ in Salt Lake City??

Look, NOBODY’S saying vote for Mitt just ‘cuz he’s a Mormon; they’re saying vote for him because, among other influences, his Mormon beliefs strongly promote Conservative principles and values.

If you take it to that level, then what’s to say that, in a future election, you won’t be drawing lines between yourself and the Pentecostal candidate, or the Seventh Day Adventist?? Both of those groups have been treated as heretical cults by Christian Fundies in the past, and some still in the present, to their own eternal shame.

If you persist with this, eventually you’ll be out there alone on a shrinking island of politically suicicdal pettiness thinking you’re some kind of spiritual matryr, when, in reality, you’re just needlessly, stupidly comingling political and spiritual issues.

Wise up.

You obviously don’t understand the practice of law and the obligations of lawyers to their clients.

It is a different animal than being a Congressman or Senator

BTW invoking the SS, that’s an interesting twist on Godwin’s Law...

No he voted correctly in accordance with the principles of federalism. He voted for tort reform when the reform involved interstate commerce, product liability and cases that involved more than one state but he correctly voted to keep the federal government out of uniquely state issues. He did not want to see tort reform become federalized when it clearly involved issues at the state level. Texas, Florida and others have passed strong tort reform laws that protect doctors from litigants with no basis. That’s the way it should be.

Exactly right.

I was very impressed by Governor Huck from Arkansas. To me he was the most impressive. I wonder if his numbers are coming up. Fred did good, but I though Huck was more impressive.

I don[’t know about McCain, he seems bitter, that’s not good. Plus, he seems afraid of Hilary. As most of the other Senators appear to be. I’m afraid the entire Senate has been compromised ever since they let Clinton get away with his stunt. Hillary being elected to that office has only furthered the damage.
