English food isnt as good as the rest of the UK or Ireland.

What did you particularly hate or like or find odd/new?...

'English food isnt as good as the rest of the UK or Ireland.' Do you think you might be a tiny bit biased? :) I've had a white puddin' supper with salt 'n sauce so i know what true evil lies north of the border!

Actually, the food was hit or miss.

I remember one meal where the only thing edible was the potatoes.
However, those were without a doubt the absolute best potatoes I’ve ever had.

We had dinner before the theater (”Spamalot”) at L’escargot.
That meal was to die for!
Though it was French, the chefs were Brits, I believe.

I never thought anyone could mess up breakfast!
But, I surely did just that.
No one told me to order streaky bacon. ;o)
I didn’t like the bacon that I ordered, and the eggs didn’t taste very good.
I found the next day that I wasn’t fond of the streaky bacon, either.
There was something about the flavor that wasn’t to my taste.
After that, I ate cereal, fruit, and yogurt.
Oh well...at least it was healthier.

In Belfast, which was my favorite part of the trip, I found a cheese and pickle sandwich on the menu.
I’ve never seen that on the menu before anywhere I’ve lived or traveled.
I was raised on them, as was my mother, and her mother, and on back through the generations.
I ordered it, and it was the very best cheese and pickle sandwich I’ve ever had!
I know it sounds weird...it’s just cheese and pickles.
But, that was the best cheese and those were the best pickles I’ve ever had in my life.

And, of course, I loved the Boxtys in Dublin!

Before we left for Dublin, we went to Windsor Castle, and had lunch at the Thatched Tavern.
The atmosphere was wonderful, as the building was medieval.
I could touch the ceiling, and I’m only 5’3”!
This one time, they preordered the meal...beef. lol
I tried it, and didn’t die from Mad Cow disease, but I didn’t like the way it was prepared, either.

BTW, this was a business trip, so I wasn’t able to pick and choose.
But, it was a very lovely trip, and I had a wonderful time.
The UK is absolutely beautiful!
We were in London during a break in the rain.
The day we left, it clouded up, and started raining again.
BUT...it was dry in Ireland, too!
The weather really cooperated with us.

Depends on who cooks it. I defer anyone to beat my trifle or roast lamb and well what can I say about my Yorkshire pudding.
