“The tip was supposed to have been paid in cash,” Now why would you pay the tab with a credit card and pay the tip in cash? Usually, the reason you do this is so the server can avoid claiming the tip as income.....

You mean a Democrat aided and abetted the waitress's avoidance of paying her "fair share of taxes...?"

hahahah. Can you imagine any one in THAT crowd parting with a hundred dollar bill?

I often do this when paying for personal meals. Never when the meal is a business expense. Hillary's campaign has to account for expenditures, and I doubt her accountants would like her doing this.

Even if she WAS doing this, it would be a staffer handling the money. How much you want to bet she has staffers who would not hesitate to pocket the tip money, if they thought they were going to get away with it?

There would be a record of a tip if it had been placed on a credit card. The patron writes in the tip and sums up the check. Makes the credit card tip story smell of lie... it's too easy to produce a copy of a signed credit card receipt. If there was one, we would have seen it.

Drinking Coffee  I'll admit that I leave cash tips quite often even when paying the bill with a credit card.  I do it precisely to leave the door open for the server to handle it as they please. If an associate is picking up the tab, I'll leave the tip in cash and frankly would feel quite foolish to put a tip on plastic.  However, Clinton was surrounded by campaign staffers and one of them is not about to leave a cash tip because they certainly will not be able to get reimbursed.  If the tip was on the plastic, then it is documented and the campaign can reimburse the amount.

Of course the tip is now documented MUCH MORE than anyone would care for, so I'd file an expense report to get my $20 back.

I do this often. And for the record, it is none of my business if the waitress claims it as income or not. I leave the tip in cash so I can be sure she (he) gets it.

And BTW: The Clinton staff went back and left a $20 dollar tip on a $150 tab? What a bunch of cheap SOBs!

I always leave big tips for good service. Where I take my better half regularly we get treated like the king and queen.

I do this. I just don't want the waiter/ess to think that they have been stiffed when they come to clear the table.
