And his proposal to eliminate taxes on US manufacturer’s is exactly what our industrial base needs. That and kicking the chicoms in the teeth.

I have been hearing the rumblings that Huckabee is fast and loose with the truth, which is a particularly troubling trait for a former Baptist preacher.

Maybe that is why he's a former Baptist preacher.

“I have been hearing the rumblings that Huckabee is fast and loose with the truth, which is a particularly troubling trait for a former Baptist preacher.”

Unfortunately, we Arkansans got to see first-hand his poor character. And now we are seeing Huckabee lie about his record as governor day in and day out during his stump speeches on the campaign trail. He had so much potential when he first took office...many of us are sorry that we ever helped him get elected.

Romney has an excuse that Huckabee does not have. Romney was governor of one of the most liberal states in the U.S. - deep in enemy territory.

Huckabee wrote in his book that he left the ministry because he believed he could help people better as a politician. Typical nanny-stater, huh?

What? You mean the man’s character is faulty? No, I never would have guessed.

Yeah, he’s pro-life. Big deal. he’s also a flaming liberal on just about everything else. And just because he hasn’t had a national Monica scandel, doesn’t mean the man’s character is stellar. Too many people confuse pro-life with being of good character. yeah, not even close to being one and the same.

Bill Clinton + G.W.B. = Huckabee

Which means he was never called by God to preach in the first place.

That in and of itself should be enough for any serious Christian to walk away from this pretender!

He is no more Christian than Rudy is.

He is using his profession of being a Christian for his own benifit!

I sure hope Hunter and Thompson start working together before the primaries start. Hunter should be happy he’d get the exposure working for the administration, but since he can’t win, he should do the right thing and get behind Fred.

That ain't no excuse, friend.

And I've seen too many FReepers claim that Mr. Romney had to lie....As it's a cost of doing business.

Personally I'd just as soon he went down in a flash of flames...than to lie to get where he is.

If "plain talk" means you are okay with out and out lying, or the means justify the ends...then I want no part of it.

Phyllis Schlafly, president of the national Eagle Forum, is even more blunt. “He destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party a shambles,” she says. “Yet some of the same evangelicals who sold us on George W. Bush as a ‘compassionate conservative’ are now trying to sell us on Mike Huckabee.”/i>

There's a reason he's polling poorly in Arkansas. They know him best. Also quite telling only one of the double digit candidatesis a clear runaway favorite in his own state in the general election.

She's right about "some" of those evangelicals. Dobson is clearly itching to endorse huckabee but got scared off if redstate's sources are accurate. But newt is also behind Huckabee's candidacy, Newt was the one pushing this guy before he started getting traction. that tells me all I need to know about Newt these days. If his statements on global warming and socialized Hillarycare weren't enough.

Now that is funny!
Wasn’t our ex-President Bill Clinton a Baptist?

Duncan Hunter is a true conservative who has been consistent with his position on taxes as evident by him being a cosponsor of The Fair Tax. Hunter ping!

It is too bad someone like Huckabee, or Paul, can rise from the asterisks to a figure of publicity while Hunter is doomed to obscurity. It shows what media attention will do.

It’s sad to see the folks over at GodTube.com praising Jesus in the comments of the (numerous) Huckster videos posted there. They just don’t get what an absolute fraud he is. You would have thought one shyster from Hope, AK would have been enough for them.

I agree with you completely.

Newt is the one Republican who had the most potential and then threw it all away because he lacked self control, morality, and common sense.

He is the Republican Clinton.

That incident coupled with his support of the Global Warming farce made him personna non-grata for me.

He is totally unreliable.

I notice that many people on this site hate Mike Huckabee, and it is clear why. One thing, though: just who do you think the Reagan Democrats were/Are?

The pundits thought the same of Huckabee and Paul and supposedly they are on the rise. It's too early to draw any conclusions. A lot can happen and has in past elections.

“One thing, though: just who do you think the Reagan Democrats were/Are?”

The Reagan Democrats were pro life, pro gun, union autoworkers in Michigan.

Check the history of the term and you will find that is a fact!

I don’t think they were nanny-staters who thought the government should control their lives.
