[Marie] Osmond's 16-year-old son enters rehab

LOS ANGELES - Marie Osmond said her 16-year-old son has entered a rehabilitation facility, but she didn't disclose the nature of his problem.

"My son, Michael, is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother I couldn't be more proud of him," the 48-year-old singer said in a statement issued Wednesday through her publicist, Marleah Leslie.

"The press and public have always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time," Osmond said.

The statement was first reported by TV show "Entertainment Tonight."

Osmond has eight children. She announced earlier this year that she and her second husband, Brian Blosil, are divorcing.

She has been appearing on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." She missed last week's show after her father, George Osmond, patriarch to her and her singing brothers, died at his home in Provo, Utah. He was 90.

She had survived the cut this week and remains a contestant on the dance competition.

Osmond fainted on stage following a samba during a live broadcast of the show last month. She quickly recovered and was well enough to continue.

"Once in a while that happens to me when I get winded," she has explained.

Osmond gained fame at 13 with the hit song "Paper Roses." She starred with her brother Donny on television's "Donny and Marie Show" during the 1970s.

Her brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay made their TV debut in 1962. Over the years, the Osmond Brothers singing group has also included her brothers Donny and Jimmy.

She can only have one husband I believe it is her choice which one or none.

How this story came out can be blamed on Larry King. Yes Larry King. His 17th wife is (was) a good friend of Marie’s. MO went on LK to speak of the passing of her father, and to promote Dancing w/the Stars. LK hardballed Marie (a total blindside question). Nice to know Larry saves his tough questions for the likes of Marie...she is an easy target...wouldn’t want to embarass a pol. MArie seems to be a little ditzy (if you have ever seen her on QVC selling her dolls)...but her heart seems to be in the right place.

His 17th wife

This guy would probably marry Corningware, if it was legal to do so. ;)

I saw a clip where it appeared that Larry King blind-sided her with a question about her son and Marie looked stunned saying, “where did you hear that”?

I don’t watch LK but I saw the interview on YouTube off a linky from Hollywoodgrind. LK’s wife is a good friend of Maries. LK used the personal knowledge from his wife’S relationship w/Osmond to blindside Marie. Not cool at all. Without King’s questioning, Marie’s son could be quietly rehabbing w/o outside attention. King looked like an a$$ and Marie was quite dignified and loving when saying Michael ‘may have been adopted.’

Usually the celeb sites are pretty snarky and like to kick the rich and famous when ‘down.’ Not so with this story...the cyber pundits are all over Larry King (and the jr.Mrs. King) for using their personal knowledge in such a hurtful way.

I think they are being raised in Utah! The Osmond kids turned out pretty dang perfect. Marie has had her problems and I believe it has to do with being the only girl and maybe was spoiled. But overall I think your description is wrong on this kid. But we will see...

I have a lot of interest in what my kids are doing. I have zero interest in what the kids of celebrities are doing.
It is unfortunate that there are so many mindless Americans who don’t have lives of their own and have to occupy themselves with this stuff. It is unfortunate that Marie feels she has to speak to such mindless dolts.

You normally are so smart (I love your posts!!), but did you read what you wrote??? You are HERE reading about this celebrity stuff. You are as bad as the rest of us! WE are the reason this stuff is news to begin with. lol.

Don’cha just luv how all these celebs have the need to air their dirty laundry to the world. We little people keep our mouths shut on such embarrassments.

lol. Luckily we don’t have fifty reporters following us at ever turn like they do. If she was not on Dancing with the Stars this season, this story would not have been reported or if it was it would have been on some obscure small paragraph.

During a medical checkup her doctor told Marie that her potassium level was dangerously low and that she had to eat more. "But Marie paid no attention. She can't cope with negative comments about her weight. She decided she was going to lose weight as quickly as possible."

That may be one of the reasons she fainted after that segment of the competition.

A woman I know fainted and the doctor said it might have been because she had not enough salt in her diet. I had never heard of this before.

Thanks. It gets my goat when a sixteen year old gets a nasty comment because he is in trouble and happens to be rich. No kid who is getting treatment for addiction needs that kind of response.

Now if a 16 y/o robs, mugs, rapes or pilages, I am the first to send him to the penitentiary.

I thought that Mormon’s believed that they were going to be married in Heaven, providing that they had been married in the “Temple”. ??

According to the teachings of the Mormon Church, "temple worthy" Mormons are "sealed" for "time and all eternity" in their temple ceremonies.

The purpose of the Mormon male is to "progress" to "godhood" -- i.e. "As man now is, god once was. As god now is, man may become." The Mormon man will "call forth" his wife (i.e. resurrect her) after death where she will serve as his "sacred vessel" eternally procreating "spirit babies." The wife will serve as one of many in a polygynous union with her husband and other wives.

Mormons do divorce, and Mormon widows and widowers do remarry. As a result, things get very complicated.

You can find out more about the Mormon faith from many excellent sources. I recommend you begin here.

Nobody cares about the embarrassments of "little people." OTOH, some scuzzbucket with a camera and no ethics to prevent him from diving into a Dumpster is always hiding in the shadows trying to suck some bucks out of the private business of anybody anyone has ever heard of. Sometimes, celebs must disclose the truth to keep the facts from coming out in a hostile forum.
