Thompson let Clinton skate on Chinese abuses which Reagan would have exposed in a heartbeat; he is therefore unqualified to be the POTUS.

And just how was he supposed to 'get' x42 on those abuses? They couldn't even get the Democrats to look at the evidence that was right in front of their faces on the impeachment charges! There was no way Fred could have gotten ANY traction on any case against him.

Comparing Fred with Reagan in this matter is ludicrous because Reagan, as President could call in the AG; Fred didn't have that option in the Senate.

I find it absolutely hilarious that we’re getting “Fred Can’t Win” posts from a DUNCAN HUNTER supporter.

He’s right that the polls will change. But for the wrong reasons.

The polls will change when the faux conservatives like the Huckster drop out after running out of cash.

Than conservatives can rally behind one candidate.

Thompson was the chairman of the senate committee which investigated this, and CLINTON GOT OFF STONE FREE. Thompson let him skate on that and he is therefore unfit to hold the highest office in the US.

The Chairman of a Senate committee has no power if the other 99 Senators are not willing to get off the dime and do anything. Do you remember ANY desire on the part of the majority of the Senate to punish x42 for ANYTHING he did?

Even though Mike Huckabee seems to be gaining in the polls in Iowa, he hasn't got the cash-on-hand or staff to exploit his sudden media-driven popularity in South Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, etc., even if he upsets Mitt Romney and wins Iowa.

You’re right. Bush lost NH to McCain in 2000 and still won the presidency.

As far as Huckabee’s staff is concerned, he has dano, a one man wrecking crew spam monkey.

but Fred has been trotted out to address those concerns, and has been presented as the "Next Reagan",

Fred wasn't 'trotted out' by anyone, and he is not presenting himself as the "Next Reagan", however many of his supporters DO see some similarities.

If YOU don't like his positions on the issues, or if you have someone you like better, that's fine. That's what the primary season is about, for candidates to try to win over supporters.

He gave me pause yesterday by not being for the HLA.

Fred doesn't want to go the HLA route because he knows that it is impossible to get it passed. He noted that even with a Republican Congress AND a Republican President, we couldn't even get it done. He's looking to actually DO something about the issue, not just talk about it.

I guess the NRLC looked over the landscape, saw the same problem they'd had for the last 35 years, and came to the same conclusion. They see, as Fred does, that with a Republican President willing to appoint Justices who would overturn Roe v Wade, it would allow the States to place restrictions on abortions, which they have not been able to do because of Roe.

Because I believe the smart money would back Hunter and it is wishful thinking to hope that Fred’s polls will change. He had his chance and he squandered it, he should step aside and let the rock-ribbed conservative have access to the kind of resources he so cavalierly misused in his poor campaigning.

What do we expect him to say? Yes I suck and people are catching on. This is stupid for him to even say anything, but I guess it got him in the papers.
