WXYZ.com news ^ | 11/16/07

In a poll of Michigan residents conducted exclusively for 7 Action News, presidental contenders Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani have taken the lead.

400 likely Michigan voters were questioned in our exclusive poll that was conducted between November 7 and 13, 2007. Polling was done for 7 Action News and The Detroit News by EPIC/MRA. All results have a margin of error of +/-4.9%

49% Hillary Clinton 18% Barack Obama 15% John Edwards 2% Dennis Kucinich

Thinking about the Republican presidential primary, if the election were held today, which of the following candidates who have announced or may announce, would vote for?

28% Rudolph Giuliani 25% Mitt Romney 13% Fred Thompson 12% John McCain 9% Mike Huckabee 2% Ron Paul

Fairly small sample, hence larger MOE, but done of "likely" voters, not "registered," or "adults."

Essentially a tossup between Rudy and Romney, although I had figured Mitt to win this one pretty easily, given his dad's connections there.

*Note, there are some other candidates and "don't knows" involved in the numbers---I quit posting after 2%, so if your favorite isn't there . . . .

Yay. So on one side we get a pro-abortion, pro-gun control candidate with a track record of appointing liberal judges and on the other side we get Hillary.

Talk about win-win.

If this is what America thinks, we are in big trouble.

These people have been campaigning for a year already. It's crazy. It's too long and nothing is getting done in Congress because the game is constantly changing.

Wonder what position Spitzer was promised in exchange for making a total jerk of himself?

Schumee is soooo quiet. I think she told him to take a hike.

Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani

Like Ike and Mike, they think alike.

I live in Mi and honestly, you just don’t hear a lot from Mitt up here. I know he was supposed to be a big player, but so far- nothing. What concerns me the most is the amount of Ron Paul signs, bumper stickers etc.. that I see everywhere. I have seen a few Huckabee bumper stickers, but other than that nothing.
Also, my very very conservative neighbors are talking about how unhappy they are with the lineup, and the general direction of the country. They actually said they are looking at democratic candidates. This is not a good sign up here.

“although I had figured Mitt to win this one pretty easily, given his dad’s connections there.”

Romney’s dad was popular with liberals not conservatives.

The unions have much less power now and a liberal RINO like George or Mutt Romney would never get the party nomination for MI governor today.

Romney or Rooty could never carry MI in the general election. The Reagan Democrats were pro-life,pro-gun and wont vote anti-gun RINO.

Michigan is a gun state with laws very close to Texas and almost as many CCW license holders.

Michigan has upheld the Voter ID law, as of Nov 07, maybe Republicans will now have a chance?

I don’t think any Republican will carry MI in a general election. Even McCain, who polls well vs. Hillary, trails there. It’s a permanent blue state.

Yes, MI would rather continue the policies under liberal democrats which have made it the only state in the country having a recession when the economy is the best its historical ever been.

Ditto for OH. How do you explain? It’s a mystery.

“Ditto for OH. How do you explain? It’s a mystery.”

Liberalism is a mental disorder?

The real pro-active types leave the state for a better life elsewhere, and the dyed-in-wool socialists remain?

Socialism is a vicious cycle, in that it creates economic malaise, and that economic malaise creates more government dependency, which increases support for socialism.

Its because the dupes would rather blame Bush than Granholm for the perils of Michigan’s economy, when Granholm is the one who ruined Michigan.

Michigan could flip but it will never happen without a strong pro-gun Republican running in the general election.

The Rat Socialist Governor has destroyed the economy of this state and people are mad at the RATS.

She was reelected only because Republicans nominated a dish soap salesman for Gov.

Dick DeVos, Mirror image of Mutt Romney who dissed sportsmen and gun owners. Lost in a landslide.

Michigan is a conservative state that votes for RATS if you just send up a business squish with an R after their name.

Michigan voters voted for “Shall Issue” CCW ( every non felon gets a carry permit), banned affirmative action, banned queer marriage and queer unions along with benefits.

Its far from a liberal state but will vote RAT if offered no choice on the issues that motivate them to the polls.

I worked hard to oust Joe Schwartz and elect Tim Walberg.

I think if I’m correct we are in the same 7th district.
