He admitted this when he ran for the U.S. Senate in Illinois. The Media just yawned.

The Republican nominee in that race was accused of asking his wife for sex. He had to resign from the race in disgrace.

If by “accused of asking his wife for sex” you mean taking her to sex clubs and demanding that she perform sex acts on him in front of others then yeah, sure.

He didn’t HAVE to resign in disgrace. But we republicans are more concerened about propriety and the law than democrats are, so by nature our candidates have a higher standard to meet.

We also expect our candidates to be sensible and conservative, something democrats don’t.
