Exactly my point, big daddy (God, Jesus) standing over us ready to judge and/or punish.

If He was ready to judge and/or punish, He wouldn't have given us an escape from that punishment.

If a person is "punished", it's because that's what he chooses.

Why should a person be punished because he doesn’t choose to believe what you, or Muslims, or Catholics, or Mormons, etc. believe. Everyone insists they have the right and only answer. The one thing that most moral philosophers have agreed upon for the past 2,500 years is some variety of the Golden Rule. Why should a truly good person have to believe in one of these religions to practice the Golden Rule since it makes sense standing alone and does require committment and effort to practice it. As I said before, it takes more strength to do something because it is good, than to do something because you think some supernatural force is going to judge you some day.
