Local craft fairs are full of locally made handcrafted and artisan items.
Pendleton Wool Mills blankets are still made in Pendleton, not the clothes though, the fabric is still made in the US, but they are sewn in Mexico now I believe. They still buy raw wool from local ranchers too.

I also just got an email/spam type thing about SEARS and how much they support the troops (keeping them on the payroll at their regular pay rather than the minimum, vet projects, health care, etc.) Check it out at Snopes.com and it is confirmed.
I’ll have to find something to buy at SEARS this year! (A couple new pair of CARHARTTS - another item made in the U.S. as well as abroad? (Europe??).
Many conservatives said they would never buy another Leatherman multi-purpose tool after Tim Leatherman endorsed Kerry for Prez in 2004.

Gerber multi-tools are an alternative. And if one chooses the Gerber multi-tool with pop-up pliers (something Leatherman doesn’t offer), one will find the Gerber very handy. Gerber is based in Portland, OR; it’s part of the Finnish company Fiskars. More info at
