It’s obvious you’re not in LE. The Taser is an effective tool that can subdue violent criminals or stop them cold if they’re trying to run. It is not a substitute for the baton. You need to be in close proximity to use a baton. It’s also better than OC because you’re neutralizing the target person and not all those around him. And once you OC someone, you then have to decon him. I just learned about a new shotgun shell taser coming to market. That’ll give us even more flexibility! Taser all the way!

No I’m not in LE...But I know a lot of old time cops that knew how to act and react....Let me tell you a story...I’m white and my neighbor is black...One Day the neighbor kid need a ride to k-mart...so I say ok get in...we get to the usual stop sign where the cops hide and I stop...next thing I know we are being followed by a cop and we pullover...this young cop is scared not only does he not want to approach the car (standard procedure) he does not want to talk to me...he sees I’m an older guy....What am I being stopped for I made a full stop didn’t I “yes but you made a funny right turn”...So I give him last years registration with a different plate number on it and he goes back to his car....I find the new registration with the new number and say here is the new registration..”I don’t need to see it “ he says and sends me on my way with no ticket , no warning , no verbal warning and no sorry...I have just been stopped for driving while black by a young nervous officer...This is the kind of officer that would be quick on the taser trigger and the kind that scares me...Post script....That week I read the riot act to every cop that I knew or didn’t know and I called the supervisor....
