O.K. You think its just a box.
But I wouldn;t touch it myself. God is inside it.
Catholics might believe that the Real Presence superceded the ark, not sure how that is viewed. Some even think it is in the Vatican, I've no opinion on that one way or the other.
The Ark of the Covenant was more than just a box inhabited by God. It was a physical metaphor commissioned by God pointing to the future of God’s Children. We were to be “living Arks” inhabited with God’s Spirit. The laws of God were to be written inside of our Hearts much in the way the Holy Books were kept inside of the Ark. The opposing Cherubim’s with the mercy seat in between where God’s Shekinah glory rested are a symbol of the consciousness of man (the left and right hemispheres of the brain and our individually conscious sentience that attempts to maintain integrity between mind and body)which has been supernaturally renewed by the Spirit of Grace.
The Ark was not just a box with God’s power...it was a love
promise, a vision as to how he’ll remake us some-day...”Being not conformed to the world, but being transformed into the image of Christ by the renewing of our minds”!
