Many bloggers are opening up and deciding to make presidential endorsements at this stage in the race. After MUCH deliberation, and I mean it was a lot, we have decided to join them.
The Duncan Hunter Grass Revolt is endorsing....

But he had been a governor and that was enough to overcome the lack of recognition. That and a great deal of personal charisma, and one hell of a ground game. Which of those three does Hunter possess?
***Hunter has the same 2 out of 3 that Thompson has. Neither has been governer, so you’re stuck with personal charisma and ground game. People who listen to Hunter stick with him, regardless of his standing in the polls. But a good 1/3 of the support for Thompson here on FR, based upon FR polls, is bandwagon jumpers “settling” for someone “conservative enough”. As far as ground game, Thompson had better name recognition, but what has he done with it? He’s been dropping like a rock in the polls, and he lost 30 points at Intrade. That is strong evidence of a very poor ground game.

His position(s) in The two statements in my #71 are diametrically opposed.
I will say [...] he thinks out load a bit much. [...] despite some of his comments.
Are you asking me not to pay attention to what he SAYS? LOL! :P
If we don't we may lose mp re than just the deportation, the secure border may fail as well.
I see your point, and I can sympathize, but the surest way to lose this election (and all ground on immigration) is to wind up with a moderated view on immigration. The Dems and RINOs are not going to get their way, at least not until after the election- The Blue Dawgs and the Conservatives will stop anything they do in the House.
The point of our efforts has got to be toward strengthening their numbers, be it with Conservatives or with Blue Dogs, as they are the ones with the principled stand on this deal. That means coattails, my FRiend.
Hunter is one of them, and has coattails with his obvious credibility, especially on this issue! He can use the platform, and have Congressional hopefuls sign on to him, helping them win the seats. Can you show me Conservative coattails on Fred (I mean other than elect-ability, which I reject)?
My fear with Duncan is he is so locked in to all or nothing that we end up not closing the book on this thing at the end of his term. he and congress go back an forth on it for 4-8 years and never solve this problem. Then who gets it?
Oh and no I expect you to listen to Fred, like I do. But you have to take everything as a whole. Like I said, he seems to formulate his solutions out loud a bit.
The next POTUS will be the one who gets DH to be their VP.
(or at least should be)

We have no say anyway, as was amply demonstrated in the last immigration go-around.
I also dont think Fred or a couple of others are running a moderate immigration stance,
I don't care a whit for "stance" or "position", and I believe that is where you and I differ, my FRiend. An "evolved" stance is of little worth, as it can "un-evolve" just as quickly. I much prefer a solid principled position, unchanging an eternal as it is, even if I disagree... At least one knows what one is getting.

If we must negotiate a position that 70% of the American electorate (I do mean all, not just Republican) agrees with, if we have to cave in on something with such a mandate, then we are lost before we even start. I think that a principled stand on this issue is a sure bet for returning the houses of government (ALL of them) back into Conservative Republican hands. This issue has a blank check- anything it costs, and anything it takes will be fully endorsed by the people, and in spades.

I know exactly what you mean. Just pokin' at you in fun. :D
It is going to be interesting to say the least.
Indeed, and as we knew, a foregone conclusion. It is going to be interesting to say the least.
True again!
Thanks for the pleasant conversation.
No problem. I like Hunter fans, they are actual conservatives in my book.
His fine record in the military, as a long time Reagan supporter and as a committed husband.
I don’t know about that. In my estimation, Ford losing in 1976 was a good thing overall in that Reagan was elected four years later.
Because he’s an actor? Because Howard Baker tells you so?
Look at his record on the issue:

Duncan Hunter will be left standing when all the others are shamed and disgraced.
