Senator John McCain had harsh words Tuesday for the Democrats both in Congress and on the campaign trail, accusing them of putting politics ahead of national security.
“I can only draw one conclusion from what the Democrats are trying to do today…” McCain said in Inman, South Carolina, “is that their political priorities have taken over their dedication to our nation’s security. And I don’t say that lightly.”
On Monday McCain, R.-Ariz., sent a letter chastising the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org for calling on Democratic presidential candidates to filibuster the war funding bill before Congress. Tuesday, he tied those Democrats to the group.
“These are good men and women on the other side of the aisle,” McCain said, “but they’re being driven by the most radical left wing organization and the name of it is called Moveon.org.”
McCain went on to attack MoveOn for its ad in September that questioned the veracity of the commander of mulit-national forces in Iraq, General David Petraeus. He then said he would fight against the Democrats, even if it mean time off the campaign trail.
“I’m going to have to maybe go back to Washington and leave the campaign trail depending on what happens here,” McCain said. “Because I’m not going to let them get away with it. I’m not going to let them set a date for surrender. I’m not going to let them lose this war.”

I don’t like John McCain any more than you do, but when he shines the light on Dems I’m not gonna criticize him. Come on!!!
You can say that if you want but I think it’s sensible to listen to McCain on national security issues like Iraq.
Old Crazy Johnny may get some things wrong, but he does take his responsibilities like an adult. Whereas Hillary is focused solely on herself.
OK, so I will give him that.
I just can’t seem to seperate what I view as flagrant campaigning by him from well-meaning and correct statements by him.
Maybe it’s just me.
Keyword spamming is unbecoming, against policy, and the mods know who does it.
The way I see it, it’s more that McCain marches to his own beat on some issues than that he is not conservative. But nearly all parties agree he has a lot of credibility on national security issues.

McCain faced the enemy in combat, bled, was imprisioned, and tortured for his country. I don’t give a hoot what you think of the man’s politics but I think it’s pretty insolent to call him a “traitor.”
50,000 from my generation DIED in Vietnam. They weren’t imprisoned and tortured (subsequently spilling their guts), they DIED. Get it?
I’m not referring with the term “traitor.” to his inferior flying skills in the war but to his alignment with the democrats once he got to Washington...
Traitor? No, a traitor is someone such as you who demean the service of someone heroic such as John McCain's was to his country during a time of war. Traitors are defined also by persons unwilling to serve during times of national need and invent ways of skirting the draft: Bill Clinton comes to mind, as do Rudy Gulianni and Mitt Romney.

Agreed, but we’re not talking about voting for Shamnesty John.
We can agree to support him when he’s kicking the enemy’s ass.
In this case the people who wish the US would lose.
That includes a sizable amount of the Rat supporters. Polled it was 20%.
And frankly, those were the ones who would admit to it.
Isn’t there a rat debate today?
I would like to see the following question asked:
“A recent poll showed that 20% of those who identify themselves as Democratic voters, voters you hope will support you over the next several months, stated they hope that the US loses the war in Iraq. Do you agree with them? And if not, in what specific way do you see the US winning, or a least not losing?”
Kinda like U-Tube General Twinkletoes but in reverse.
On thread: McCain is RIGHT on this issue. Every Republican candidate needs to join him.
