Good question.
I have considered it many times over the years. However, while my parents were still alive in Canada, and with immigration laws constantly changing on both sides of the border, I was always nervous that if I needed to go back to Canada to LIVE (say to help my aging parents) that I might have complications if I had become a U.S. citizen. Perhaps my fears were unfounded - but with laws getting changed, I wanted to be on the safe side. I figured as long as I was still strictly a Canadian citizen, there would be absolutely NO problems going back over the border and taking up residence. My parents passed on in the late 90’s after periods of failing health. That is no longer an issue for me, and after going through annoying hassles with Green Card renewals, it was TIME to now be a U.S. CITIZEN !!
I love this country dearly, and have actually been a citizen “in my heart” for a long time !
