I'm not sure we're getting the whole story here. It sounds as if she came to the attention of the juvenile justice system because her son got in trouble with the law, and then they wondered why he wasn't in school.
Does anyone know "the rest of the story"?
I was getting the sense that there was a lot more to this story than was being told.
Whether he was in trouble with the law or not is irrelevant to the school’s losing the paperwork.
A *clash between children* could mean anything. Some other parent could have not liked the way her son looked at her little darling, or he could have pulled a knife on someone. Who knows?
BTW, threatening her with the removal of her children for a paperwork issue and attempting to prevent her from being able to move for two years, is a gross overreaction.
I have to wonder why the district or the judge simply don’t ask her to fill it out again.

Marxism is our nation’s MOST serious threat. And,,,our government K-12 schools and our nation’s universities and colleges are the Marxists’ MOST important weapon! We can survive a nuclear suitcase bomb but we will not survive if Marxist educators succeed in indoctrinating the voters who go to the polls to vote for Marxists who will appoint Marxist judges.
Government school defenders would like us to think of government schools as warm and fuzzy places. In reality, though, government schools are like the movie “Gremlins”. They looked sooooo cute in the beginning, didn’t they?
Retired Army is completely and totally right, as Marxists consolidate power we can expect to see more of this, and we can expect the Marxist government schools to get even more aggressive in their pressure on parents and in the content of their indoctrination.
Why are the American people sooooo asleep on this??? Why aren’t Rush and Hannity hammering on this EVERY DAY??? ( yes! I am shouting. It is an emergency!)
“Compulsory government schooling” means that government employees have the power to send out armed police, court orders, and foster care workers. If the parent or child refuses to cooperate, armed police will arrest and imprison them. If they were foolish enough to seriously resist, the police will kill them. ( Real bullets in those guns on the hip!)
Hm...When thought about in this what the image of polished apples on the teacher’s desk changes a bit, doesn’t it? More like the apple offered by the wicked witch to Snow White.
The parents do have an out though! They can **ransom** their kids from the government school gremlins by paying private school and homeschooling expenses. It seems though that in this woman’s case it would have been better to send the “ransom” notice by registered mail, or in person with a demand for a written receipt.
It is too bad. the status of the dad is unclear in this article. My friends in Utah say that judges in that state are very hard on single moms. When that mom says, “lose custody”, I suspect that it means the dad will take over.
And what would that have to do with homeschooling or being forced to put your kids in government indoctrination camps.
It isn't as though public school kids NEVER get in trouble...
Wallace T. makes a good point Amelia, when is there going to be an organization to protect parents with kids already enrolled in the government schools? Hey, look at the kid charged with a felony just for having a steak knife.

As for having to be members of the HSLDA, I highly recommend it! We had truant officers at our door twice and a social worker once! Of course, we were among the pioneers and I did not know about the organization at the time. It would have saved us a LOT of worry.
And,,,In my opinion, if citizens need legal representation on permanent retainer to protect them from a oppressive, stupid, and sometimes evil government workers then it time to overthrow the oppression. It is one, among many reason why government schools must be shut DOWN!
Compulsory government schools mean police power with real bullets in those guns on the hip, ( Just ask John Singer), and the power to imprison parents and students and send kids into foster care.
This is what government schools are! And,,,once they get hold of a child they subject him to a curriculum and to indoctrination camp policies than can NEVER be religiously, culturally, or politically neutral.
I compare government school to the movie “Gremlins”. It looked sooo cute, warm, and fuzzy in the beginning. But,,,underneath were the sharp teeth of anti-First Amendment and armed police oppression.
