“In one respect it’s working to bankrupt every congregation of every denomination. Have you noted what these Catholic molestations have done to congregational insurance costs?”
Yes, if adults in our church are to have contact with children they have to go through a training process and never is one adult allowed to be alone with a child. It is a humiliating slap in the face to many people. Look at what the homosexuals have also done to the Boy Scouts and let me reiterate, the only way to fight back is through the courts using organized legal opposition like the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF). I know it is distasteful to pay lawyers to fight, but not all lawyers are bad people.
It's a stacked deck all the way to the top. It would take VERY talented lawyers to direct the argument such that the resulting opinions can't take advantage of tactical omissions. It's a hard strategic call as to whether it's better to cure the people to elect better officials to appoint better judges or whether it's better to take the risk with the judiciary we've got. I think we've got to do both.
The real answer is to evangelize the cause of freedom at every opportunity. Until the people understand what they're up against and what it will take to fix it and why, I don't think you'll convince judges every bit as aware of political reality that it's worth the risk of faithfully acknowledging the historical reality of the law.
