Then why does he LIE about using the cross?

Wrong, he has no shame. Being a Christian is not a license to do anything you want and lying.

I think the point is that if he’s lying about this ad, his Christianity is not the main feature of his character. I haven’t seen the ad myself, so I don’t know. Having made several movies myself, I can say that sometimes, subtleties are intended - sometimes, people read unwarranted significance into things.

that is not the issue.

Like all things it is the LIE not the facts.

1. Huckabee is pushing the “more christain than you” campaign. (did you know he was a preacher on 9/11)

2. Huckabee did not simply put a cross in the background, he use an allusion to a cross.

3. He then DENIED that it was deliberate when in fact it is OBVIOUS it is a deliberate action in the lighting, the movement, and the fact image control people micromanage these items for all campaigns.

It is a sleazy act by a sleazy politician.

“...like him or not he is not ashamed.

Except he obviously is. There is no shame in putting a cross into an ad about Christmas. It’s a nice touch and completely appropriate. After all, it was called “Christ’s mass” for a reason.

The problem arose when, as soon as the MSM put on a little heat, Huckabee went into instant denial mode and said it was an accident, creating a controversy where none needed to be.

Why deny it? Why not just say, “Yes, it’s cross. So what?” That would have been the end of it, because what more would there have been to say?

When the heat is on, instead of immediately telling the whole truth and defusing the situation, Huckabee’s instinct is to obfuscate. How Clintonesque. Huckabee is the least media savvy campaigner of all the candidates of either party, and it will be his undoing.

He is not a Christian if he is lying about this.

I'd be ashamed of lying about using the cross of our Lord for pandering. After all this is over Huck has a real future in the reconstituted episcopalian church. They don't care if you lie about that "Cross" crap either.
