I expect it is a big-time endorsement. Fred needs to kick-off the post-Christmas campaign swing. As much as Huckabee would like it, nobody is going to be taking time off from campaigning between now and Epiphany.

Could be Grassley endorsement? Grassley has served w/Thompson and still serves w/McCain. He’s quite popular in Iowa. If you recall in ‘04, a last minute endorsement by the governor’s wife (subtly in lieu of the gov himself) is what made the difference for Kerry.

Agreed. Its pretty clear he is not gonna win Iowa or New Hampshire so he need to make the case that he has strength for a long run with better states to come.

Now, what would really help would be a strong speech from Fred to go along with a big endorsement.
