So you are against snuffing unborn kids and for snuffing adults like they do where I grew up, huh? I guess that means you are pro-half-life or some new term, because usually pro-life encompasses sanctity of life, period. I guess you would have sided with those I believe killed my Mom in Oregon. Yes?

I read that Virginia Tech stuff and have no problems with it, but do have problems with your knee-jerk reactions on this thread when it comes to confronting real pro-lifers. Are we real ones inane?

>>So tell me, exactly who do you think I was in a past life? Your guess should be amusing. I’ve been a lurker a longer than I’ve been a member.

I don't think you had a past life because I am a Christian and I do not believe in reincarnation, but you may find that amusing. I could guess what you think you were in a past life and I would be amused.

I never really got the appeal of lurking around here and not participating. I discovered FR from a vanity thread that FReeper writer33 posted. I spent about fifteen minutes browsing a few other threads, loved what I saw and jumped in.

“Probably, I can hardly blame the people in Scandinavian countries for being afraid. As this article points out, 37% of the euthanasia victims in Holland DID NOT CONSENT TO IT.”

There is a great book “Final Exit” (the author’s name escapes me for the moment), and it was a terrifying read. It examines the outcome of any society that finds it so easy to dispose of its “useless eaters”. It documented the state of elder care in the northern European countries, including the ordering of “terminal measures” when the beds were needed.

Actions have consequences, and those who were so busy pushing for abortion rights will soon be learning THOSE consequences.

Murder means to do what only God has a right to do: to end somebody's life.

This apples to someone who is coming at your to take your life?

Your proposed definition is inadequate because it does not take account of murders in which the murderer may have perverted noble intentions and no personal gain in mind: e.g. the killing of a handicapped baby, slaughtering someone as a sacrifice because of the belief that Huitzilopochtli or some other a god or gods required it, etc.

The furtherance of his noble intentions in his gain the decease's loss.

Uncle Joe Stalin had a true belief similar to that of those who believe in Huitzilopochtli. So do all socialists.

In the case of a Just War or the death penalty, the state is specifically authorized to act in God's name by God's word:

In a war, the other side is, by agreement, trying to kill you.

The death penalty is the social level equivalent of an individual's right to protect himself with deadly force.

For [the ruler] is God's servant to do you good. . . .

If the ruler's intention is to do you good. Did Pol Pot's rulership do his people good? Did Stalin's? Did Papa Doc Duvalier's? Did Bubba Clinton's?

If the ruler's intentions is toward power and wealth and not the good of his people, he is Lucifer's servant.

Exactly. In Romans 13 we have the picture of the ruler as God's servant. In Revelation 13 we have the picture of the ruler as a beast from hell. Quite a study in contrasts.

The 11 Apostles, and Paul too, were martyred unresisting. It's impressive, how they lived and died.

Oregon does not handle it right. Oregon took the coward’s way out. There can be compassionate, less painful care for the dying with drugs (even heroin) and tenderness and patience and perseverance ... giving up on life and having others agree that indeed your life is worthless and then participate in ending it is not dignified for anyone. It is dangerous for everyone.
