Honestly, I think we fool ourselves into thinking that some of these countries are “allies” when they are anything but. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan top that list. Actually, Pakistan might have been okay had Saudi $$ not been used to fund all those madrassas.
One of the problems with this country is that we have problems calling a snake a snake. Even when we recognize the snake, we still have a fifth column that urges us to reason with and befriend the snake. Its time to take the masks off and deal with what is really underneath.
We must also understand that all the alternatives might be worse. In the end one has to make the decision on the facts at hand. Those facts are apt to change.
