They talk about the border issue relative to the primary race.

That's just about why it is so difficult to support Hunter. He falls into the trap, left and right, of portraying himself as a narrowly defined candidate.

What about the 1,000 other presidential issues?

What is his plan for burdgeoning health care costs?

What is his view of IRS limitations of church activities?

Pick your questions....

The way things are playing out it really does appear, we are going to, uh, have to, uh, in some way, uh, give them, uh, some aspirations of citizenship.

Fred who?

;D

Got a link? I’ll be using that in my standard immigration paragraph.

Is this what you are looking for?

"Because we allowed ourselves to wait until we woke up one day and found 12 million illegals here, there's no easy solution. And I think that you have to realize that you're either going to drive 12 million people underground permanently, which is not a good solution. You're going to get them all together and get them out of the country, which is not going to happen. Or you're going to have to, in some way, work out a deal where they can have some aspirations of citizenship, but not make it so easy that it's unfair to the people waiting in line and abiding by the law." -Fred Thompson (Fox News' "Hannity & Colmes," 4/3/06)

It’s a little bit different than the original quote, but should do. Thanks.

More recently, he continues to show that he will not enforce the law (build a fence, deportation, fine employers):

“Nobody’s advocating that these people all be rounded up. Nobody’s advocating that they even be arrested and incarcerated, although they’re in violation of the law”.

I suppose we are expected to have understood his “aspirations of citizenship” for illegals to mean something other than AMNESTY!? If you don't plan to "round them up" for deportation, you plan on allowing them to stay indefinately...which is AMNESTY:

Amnesty (from the Greek amnestia, oblivion) is an act of justice by which the supreme power in a state restores those who may have been guilty of any offence against it to the position of innocent persons. It includes more than pardon, inasmuch as it obliterates all legal remembrance of the offence. The word has the same root as amnesia.

That's just about why it is so difficult to support Hunter. He falls into the trap, left and right, of portraying himself as a narrowly defined candidate.

Since there is not a Republican candidate running for office that doesn't think that the WOT is the number one priority of the Presidency, that will go without saying. (except for Paul). With that said, now I can say that this election will come down to two main categories, Immigration and Taxes. Hunter's record on both are outstanding.

As far as the "1000" other issues? Irrelevant. First, I don't want the President doing ANYTHING about healthcare costs except for government getting out of the way. Hunter has consistently stood for smaller government in those types of issues. Secondly, as a Born Again, Evangelical, Fundemental Bible Believing Baptist, where do you THINK he stands on the IRS and church issues? I guess he should have thrown Christ-like humility out the window and pandered to the Christian Right by starting Theological debates while campaigning, just to get some press attention.

It seems nowadays that the only way to get noticed in this superficial world is to have some sort of controversy. If only Duncan had not been married faithfully to the same woman all these years. If only he had someone in his immediate family out picketing against the war, or for the Homo-sexual agenda, or for abortion. If only he would get caught in an airport bathroom. But there's nothing. No salacious background or identity. While all the wanna-bees are out there with their campaign staff trying to come up with some way to 'exploit' their candidate, Duncan Hunter sticks to the issues, fighting to protect our borders, speaking out for Ramos and Compeon, and the only one speaking out on the plans of the last country of the 'Axis of Evil' to hurt America.

True Conservatism Wins Every Time.

Vote for Hunter

I wonder why I haven’t heard Roger Hedgecock sub for Rush lately. Rush used to have him sub all the time.

“You aren’t the only American going to sleep while Hunter works to secure the borders, maintain a strong national defense and strong manufacturing base.”

Yup. Hunter WORKS! so we can peacefully sleep.

From my e-mail from Duncan Hunter:

“It’s crunch time in Iowa and
YOU
can make the difference!”

And we CAN! Call a talk show that airs in Iowa or any of the early primary states.

I didn’t notice that he wasn’t, but it’s probably that Roger’s too busy. He has started doing a national Saturday show, writing books, and other things.

I somewhat agree that there’s a bit of a pitfall there. Knowing that he will get limited exposure, he tries to hit a few points well, particularly some issues that our next President will urgently have to face if he’s going to take care of this country. Borders and immigration are a hot topic lately, so he goes ahead and hits his home-run on that each chance he gets. I would like to hear him give longer, in-depth interviews, but it’s easy to find with a little research that he is rock-solid on social issues, tax issues, role-of-government issues, etc. He has, during this campaign, expressed his support for the Fair Tax, for which he has co-signed a bill. I haven’t found another candidate who is even ‘satisfactory’ on all the various things that I care about, while Hunter is excellent on all of them, so I only have one choice about whom to support. And as far as the horse race goes, I can only put my faith in fellow Republicans to outsmart the media brainwash and go ahead and vote for what they believe in.

Thanks, guys. It looks like TheLastInkling is getting a little bit of harrassment for not having the quote accurate.

Been there, done that... The whole quote is there on my #30, and in context with his other statements that night.

Notice there is little real argument on the thread, His comments (Fred's) are indefensible. Just attack-dog hits on Hunter...

Props to you Ink, you did nothing wrong.
