I have no problem with conservatives telling the MSM that they won't help them sell papers or telling the Today show they won't be coming on until there is a semblance of balance.

You forget one thing, they already think they are balanced so that point would be completely lost on them.

Putting that aside, when the conservative message gets a chance to be presented in a socialist rag like the NYT's, that message will resonate. We can't take the high ground by not engaging the opposition

"Kristol, whose strident support of President Bush and the war in Iraq"

Exactly the point I was going to make...

Kristol was, and is so anti Bush that this hiring by the Slimes is no surprise at all...

"Sounds like he’s the replacement for Safire"

And when William Safire was hired by the Times, the other reporters and columnists threw tantrums. How DARE they "allow" a conservative viewpoint at the Times.

I wonder if he will need permission to put an American flag on his desk, assuming he has a desk there.

Kristol is and always has been a McCain supporter and apologist. And as we know McCain is not that popular in conservative circles (except maybe his support of the Iraq war) so Kristol can't be considered a true conservative as Safire was. But the Slimes will do what it can to present him that way so as to appear "balanced."

You're absolutely right. The Republican primary campaigns have made it clear to me that the MSM is (successfully?) defining the only two political positions as liberal and moderate with the conservative position, and conservative candidates, being ignored or ridiculed. I laugh at those who denigrate the "Dinosaur" media not acknowledging that it is, by far, the most powerful shaper of views in the Country. The "new media", including FR, doesn't even come close to the giant propaganda machine that most people in this Country turn to for the "truth".
