You forget one thing, they already think they are balanced so that point would be completely lost on them.
Putting that aside, when the conservative message gets a chance to be presented in a socialist rag like the NYT's, that message will resonate. We can't take the high ground by not engaging the opposition

Kristol was, and is so anti Bush that this hiring by the Slimes is no surprise at all...
And when William Safire was hired by the Times, the other reporters and columnists threw tantrums. How DARE they "allow" a conservative viewpoint at the Times.

You're absolutely right. The Republican primary campaigns have made it clear to me that the MSM is (successfully?) defining the only two political positions as liberal and moderate with the conservative position, and conservative candidates, being ignored or ridiculed. I laugh at those who denigrate the "Dinosaur" media not acknowledging that it is, by far, the most powerful shaper of views in the Country. The "new media", including FR, doesn't even come close to the giant propaganda machine that most people in this Country turn to for the "truth".
