I don’t think they were purged. Or at least what they said at the time was that they were leaving in disgust.

I was open to Rudy myself at the start of the campaign. I said that if he strongly repudiated some of his previous positions, on abortion and gay rights, I might be willing to support him, because he tends to be honest.

Well, as it turned out, he didn’t repudiate anything. So he’s more honest than some of the others, but about what?

I saw the way he turned around New York. I’m willing to put up with some unpleasant personality traits if someone can get the job done. But not if the job includes unlimited abortion and perversion. So, he lost me. But no bad feelings toward my old friends here who supported him.
