If that is true why did the HATED RICHARD NIXON win a huge victory in 1972. Nixon won 60.7 percent to 38 percent for Surrender Monkey McGovern.
You confuse the media's faked job approval polls with actual voting results.
The media can influence some people .... Cause them to believe things that ared not true. But they never have been able to fool a majority of American voters. The candidates supported by the biased media have lost 7 out of the last 10 presidential elections. That is a terrible record for a media that can control how people vote. It is a record that proves they can't.
And if you want to talk about 2006, then go back and look at 1986 .. The hugely popular Ronald Reagan was president when the Republicans lost the house and senate in 1986.. by the same percentages Bush lost the house and senate in 2006. Nearly every president who has served two terms has lost control of the house and senate in his 6th year. It did not happen to FDR. But it happened to Truman in his second year and Ike in his second year. Nixon/Ford never had control of the house and senate. Clinton lost control in his second year. And Bush in his 6th.
If Walter Cronkite had really had lots of influence Jimmy Carter would have defeated Ronald Reagan. But Reagan buried Carter/ The media polls taken in August 1980 had Reagan losing to Carter 59 to 39. For some strange reason Reagan's internal polls showed him winning. On election day it turned out to be 51 percent Reagan to 41 percent Carter with 3rd party candidates that were supposed to destroy Reagan getting millions of votes.. but they came out of Carter's hide... not Reagan's.
Don't believe what the Cronkite's of the world tell you..Try reading the election returns. They tend to tell a different story.

No one is going get a majority of the delegates. If FDI can get a block of 25 to 30% he’ll be right there at a brokered convention with as good a shot as anyone.

Democrats are the anti-party...not the ‘right’. They’re the void...whom can’t speak of consequences of immediate pull out, nationalizing healthcare, amnesty, etc. As Jim Robinson puts it so aptly, we are pro-life, pro-god, pro-2nd amendment, pro-border enforcement...etc.
We aim at our enemies, but we are something. When you come to the plate....don’t swing at air.
I think there are classes being held in Iran & Syria on how to sound like an angry American on the internet ready to vote for any Democrat and ready to impeach Bush.....
When I speak of “these same people listening to Walter Cronkite” I am not speaking of large numbers of Americans. They are the 2 to 5 percent of Americans that waffle between being independent and Republican depending on the direction of the wind that day.......
I see you have never checked out the Ron Paul forums. They have worked hard to get their supporters to register Republican for the primaries. Since he is the only antiwar choice for either party and he is now the "whatever you want him to be candidate" for the disgruntled, angry, and disillusioned, they are an eclectic bunch. A great many are registering Republican because they must if they want to vote for their man.
First of all only about 80 thousand people will vote in the Republican Iowa caucus. There were 1.5 million people voted in the 2004 presidential election. Traditionally about 6 percent of registered voters participate.
The average number of Republican voters per Iowa precinct is expected to be about 44 people. Some precints in the larger cities whil likely have as many as 100 or 150 voters attending the caucus. But in the rural counties it will be as small as 10 or 15 voters. In 2004 there were 4 Democratic caucuses where only one voter showed up.
The campaigns with big money, Romney for example, are able to hire transportation and have workers make arangements to pick up their supporters and take them to the caucus and bring them home. The reason they do this is because so many people will tell a campaign that they are going to come and then never show up. If you have them agree to be picked up they come.
Consider the caucus process. You have to go to the meeting place and spend several hours in order to cast your vote. You have to listen to campaign speeches and go through the debates and adoption of your precincts version of the party platform. Getting people to go is like pulling teeth.
That is something a candidate who does not have the funds to rent lots of cars and hire lots drivers and lots of baby siters just can't do. Plus it takes a huge hired staff to arrange it all.
That is why the polls showed Howard Dean winning Iowa in 2004 and Kerry tied for a very lousy 3rd place. But Kerry won Iowa easily and Dean lost.
Why?
Kerry took his rich wife's millions and got his supporters to the caucus. It took money and organization. His effort did not depend on the Media or its polls .. so the media got it totally wrong.
In Iowa it is safe to bet on money and organization. If your candidate doesn't have lots of both he is going to lose big time.
If a acandidate is going to depend on advertising and media he is in for the loss of his life. Ask Howard Dean how that works.
But the Dems are going to give me everything for free! Why should I vote Republican? What are they going to give me?
