What’s also funny is that Republicans have pretty much NEVER had ID parity since Roosevelt’s era. Even in 1994, when the GOP won big at the Congressional level. The GOP doesn’t even actually need to get the majority of votes in the aggregate of House elections to take back the House, since a lot of Dim votes tend to be clumped in sure-to-win races in urban districts anywise. The rest of the Dim votes are spread out, losing in many competitive districts.
One reason the rats have always had higher registrations is that it is far easier to mobilize registration drives in parasite nests (”cities”) than in widespread suburban and rural areas. Also, in the parasite nests it is basically expected that you register Democrat since your registration is public knowledge and you don’t want to irritate your ward leaders and local politicians (you might need them to fix a parking ticket or get your sidewalk cemented, etc.). So you register Democrat even though you’re a working taxpayer with a normal, traditional American family and therefore always vote Republican.
