...a $2 million earmark he obtained to help create the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York.

From http://www.saljournal.com/Story/franking

One of the largest is the nearly $2 million set aside for The City College of New York, a pet project of New York Democrat Rep. Charles B. Rangel. The undertaking is designed to get more minority and poor students into politics. That's a noble goal, but the effort has been named the "Charles Rangel Monument to Me" because it features a building, conference center and library named after Rangel that will house his papers and memorabilia. Some of the literature says his library will be as significant as presidential libraries.

On the other end of silliness is some $213,000 set aside to research olive fruit flies in France.

Last week the Associated Press brought readers another example of Congress' abuse of public funds known as "franking," which allows members of Congress to send mail with a signature instead of postage.

Is there a list of all 9,800 earmarks/pork projects/frankings somewhere?

No wonder New York State has become the land of taxes...

Threads about the corruption in politics and how the taxpayer's money is unwisely used will net a low volume of posts.

But a thread about the culture war or about political attack ads garner all sorts of responses. Why is that?

By the way, thanks for posting this.

Oh, and here's the list, all 696 .pdf pages worth taking up over 9 meg of file space.
