A Hard Loss for Romney (He's all but doomed now)

A Hard Loss for Romney By John Ellis

It's one thing to lose as you are. What you lose is an election, but there's always another election and in the case of presidential primary politics, a new electorate that awaits you in the next state. It's another thing to lose as you aren't. Mitt Romney was never the 700 Club right-winger his campaign managers conceived. He was and is a man of business and a very capable one at that.

He's all but doomed now. Senator John McCain will beat him in New Hampshire, probably by a lot, and Romney's media coverage will evaporate and his candidacy will consequently die. On January 9, his managers will walk in and say that the campaign needs $10 million or $15 million to continue and that he, Romney, will have to write the check. Everyone who would contribute has maxed out. Everyone who might won't. Two-time losers don't get new money. It's a basic rule of politics.

Did you hear that McCain and Huckabee are working together to knock Romney out of the race?

I think it's hilarious!

How do you feel about McCain?

Better than I do about Romney. Which isn't saying much.

How about “Accept all Americans as full citizens or you are anti-American.” ??

Fred Thompson: Liberal in Disguise

Perhaps not the candidates. I misspoke.

But check out this article from The Conservative Voice.

Give me a break. This smells of desperation from a Romney supporter.
Fred Thompson is the Reagan Conservative in the race.

That’s absurd. It doesn’t pass a test of basic credibility.

Oh great. So the smart money now says it’s a choice between McStain, and Huckleberry. In that case I’m done. Wake me up next January when we inaugurate the next Rat in Chief.

I dont think Romney drops till AFTER NH

It will take way more than that. I would expect Romney to stay in until he finds out how little support he has in the South, and west of the Mississippi.

“It will take way more than that. I would expect Romney to stay in until he finds out how little support he has in the South, and west of the Mississippi.”

Has Romney won Wyoming yet? The race is far from over, although the CLUSTERHUCK has done great damage to having a non-RINO winner possibility - McCain, Rudy and Huckster have about 75% of winning between them.

Jan. 3 — Iowa caucuses

Jan. 5 — Wyoming GOP caucuses
“Conventional wisdom is that Romney will win here solidly (he just got 61% of vote in a straw poll last weekend)”

Jan. 8 — New Hampshire primary

Jan. 15 — Michigan primary

Jan. 19 — Nevada caucuses

The problem is this: Romney has supported homosexual scoutmasters, abortion, homosexual partnership rights and the like.”

I’d probably vote for the Jewish conservative over the Christian liberal

Completely agree. For those who are asking the question "Christian or Jew", they are comparing apples and oranges. Comparing Christianity and Mormonism is comparing an apple and an apple with a worm in it.

Honestly, there is no Reagan in the race, that’s the real problem. Any claims that Thompson is a liberal are coming from fringers holding on to the purist positions. Keyes supporter EV comes to mind, he’s said as much about Thompson in the past on threads. IMHO, its nuts whoever says it so just ignore it as twaddle. Thompson has had deviations and the only erroneous thought is to think we must have a candidate who is 100% conservative purist.

It wont happen. None in the race are.

Why dont you just make this your tagline?
Any RINO for President is fine with me, just not the Mormon one

So Huck has 20 delegates and Mitt has 18....how did your candidate do? Mitt said tonight that he was impressed with the fact that he beat all the other candidates by a wide margin.

This from an protectionist anti-free-trader, not any Romney supporter ... They make clear their choices later on ...

“And like all neocons, Thompson supports free trade, which is destroying our economy and undermining our sovereignty. ... Fred Thompson is no real conservative. He’s a neocon globalist. Only look at his past actions, memberships and words.

We already have three real conservatives in the running (Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Duncan Hunter) and let’s give them the support they deserve. If Fred Thompson receives the nomination, I’m voting Constitution Party.”

To me a vote for McCain, is a vote for the continued business as usual in DC. McCain is such an insider, nothing of any importance will ever get done. I think Romney will actually bring change, and that is refreshing.

Lemme guess: Slick Willard is glad he outspent Huck 20:1 to lose by nine points.

How’d I do?

Had Romney not spent a lot of money in Iowa, he would probably have faired about like your candidate did. Huckabee would have then blown everyone out with the religious thing. The real number is $250 per vote, btw.

Can you believe all the crappola being strewn about on this thread?

There is a disproportionate amount of vitriol around these parts when it comes to Mitt Romney. Sheeeesh already. Romney is a wonderful fine family man, a hard worker, a man of great character and integrity. He does not deserve to be attacked in such a vicious dog-pile way. Gads.
