OTOH, its all academic because as far as I understand it the only way he'll get the nomination is to create a real revolt against the party establishment and its super-delegate firewall. Not likely, IMO.

Man Pipes is really having to stretch the definition of Muslim to justify his claims.

Obama was an irregularly practicing Muslim who rarely or occasionally prayed with his step-father in a mosque. This precisely substantiates my statement that he "for some years had a reasonably Muslim upbringing under the auspices of his Indonesian step-father."

His step father was hardly a "practicing Muslim." If anything, he sounds like one of our "Easter Christians;" one who regularly attends church once or twice a year. I've known a lot of Catholics and Protestants who would call themselves Catholics or Christians, but rarely darken the door of a church.

Pipes is making a mountain out of a mole hill just to make himself sound infallible. Technically Obama was a Muslim, but hardly a Muslim in lifestyle.

I'm not worried about Obama's religion, that's his business and not mine. What concerns me is his dedication to foolish Liberal ideas;socialism and pacifism are a much greater threat to our nation than whether or not Obama was a Muslim at the age of 8.

Pipes needs to get a life and stop tilting at windmills in a vain attempt at self-justification.

The biggest danger may not be Obama himself, but, liberals and neocons who keep spouting the falsehood “Islam is a religion of peace”.....their political correctness would be downright dangerous for Obama. Wait a minute, I thought 'neocons' were for the Jews? Now they're defending Mohammedans? Who knew?

Okay, I'll take your word that the only reason you posted it was your compassionate altruistic concern for the safety of this upstart Democratic candidate for President of the U.S.A.

Then please answer me this:

Please name the credible Islamic sources -- clergy, political, social -- who have said that Obama is an apostate Muslim and must be killed specifically for that reason.

Killing him because he's running for President doesn't count, for the reason stated by goldfinch in post #18. We may assume that they want to kill him because he's an American, per devere in post #27.

Muslims get outraged at the drop of a hat, right? They go out and rampage and burn cars and murder each other and anybody else in range because of the slightest offense. They are notoriously lousy at keeping their emotions under wraps and their mouths shut.

So you would think, given that they'd have to be living under a rock to NOT know that Obama is running for President in the U.S.A., that a bunch of them would have said either:

1. "Finally, one of us will be President of the US"

or

2. "An apostate. He must die for his offense to Islam."

Right?

So, where's the outrage? or conversely, the approval?

The credible, Muslim outrage, or approval, that is? (Don't brush this off with "there are no credible Muslims". You know what I mean -- spokesmen from their organizations, for instance.)

I find Obama's political and social views as an adult much more troubling than where he sporadically went to church as a little kid.

I agree with ya. Obama smoking a joint, hardly resonates. He at least admitted inhaling! And the fact that he can’t admit anything solid to his (or lack of) faith, to me is more disturbing.
