Save the Second

In a great victory for the American People, the U.S. Court of Appeals overturned the DC handgun ban saying it was a violation of the second amendment. For the first time in years a court held that the second amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms. The United States Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case. Defenders of the second amendment have been working hard for just this moment in history for years.

Last Friday, the United States Solicitor General filed formal briefs asking the Supreme Court not to affirm the lower court’s decision. This is just outrageous. The Solicitor General is the Federal Government’s lawyer. So, now we have the federal government using our tax dollars to argue for a delay on a ruling concerning our fundamental rights.

Take action today - sign this petition to let the government know that you value your second amendment rights. Together, we can ensure that your rights are protected. For the first time in years we have the opportunity for the Supreme Court to clearly say that the second amendment applies to all Americans and that no government can ban all handguns.

Let your voice be heard - sign the petition today.

It is difficult to exaggerate what is at stake in this case; it is the first major Supreme Court review of the Second Amendment in over seventy years. This case will likely establish an important precedent on the issue of second amendment rights - let us make sure that it is one that protects our rights.

Sign the petition today – together we can protect our Second Amendment rights.

Rep. Eric Cantor

Right, there is going to be some sort of revolt. I dont think it will be an armed uprising or anything like that, but there will be a time coming, hopefully sooner rather than later, when We the People realize that our American heritage is being betrayed by the very people we vote into office.

America used to be a city on a hill and now its a shell of its former self.

Something is gonna happen to the Republican party, it needs to

Go buy a handgun and learn how to use it. It is a lot of fun to go to the range and practice. Take a friend with you. The more gun owner’s out there the better.

You definitely should change this. Nobody can appreciate the level of infringement without jumping through all the legal hoops.

Depending on what state you live in, it may be a relatively painless and enjoyable process. Or it may be a real eye-opener just how much crap you have to deal with.

Here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia you're going to start by paying for a "Handgun Safety Certificate", which a smart four-year-old could earn, but for which you will pay, I think, $25; for something which is of absolutely no value to you or anybody else.

Be sure to shop near where you live, or you will either have to pay duplicate shipping charges or make two long trips to the dealer ten days apart. (Don't plan on waiting over 30 days, or you will have to pay again for the background check and then wait another ten days.)

Don't get carried away "window shopping" on the Internet. Only those handguns deemed "NOT UNSAFE" by the state can be purchased new in Kalifornia. For some reason, the police can use guns which are not "NOT UNSAFE". It's kind of hard to figure that one out.

Be sure to plan on transporting the gun home in an approved lockable container or in the locked trunk of your car. Don't plan on transporting ammunition with it unless you can lock up the ammunition separately from the gun.

There may be other possible crimes that you might accidently commit while attempting to keep and bear arms in Kalifornia. If you have children in the home and don't wish to lose custody, "safe storage" becomes an issue. All of the above requirements are mandated and violating them carries fines and/or imprisonment.

But don't let all this worry you. You probably won't end up in prison, at least not if its a first offense.

Seriously, you do need to do this. Every free American needs to understand from first hand just how much freedom we have lost.

I'm happy Florida is not like that. We have to do the waiting process, unless you have a Conceal Carry Permit (which I have, lasts for a few years and under $100) in which case you can walk out with your gun, otherwise you have to wait. We are a castle doctrine state so we don't have to deal with all the separate gun from ammo issues. I'm actually allowed to defend myself and family in or on my own property now, I'll still probably get sued by the family of the offender but its much less likely that they will win now.

Its very important for people to utilize, or at least understand, their 2nd amendment rights. Everyone uses all the others in the Bill of Rights but this one seems to be unimportant to a lot of people. They don't realize that the 2nd is the one that keeps the other Rights in place. The 2nd defends the others from an overreaching gov't.

Our gov't seems to be all about the business of overreaching. California is sad, I guess they don't understand the meaning of "shall not be infringed" either.

PS. the Dems were clamoring over themselves talking about reimplementing the Assault Weapons Ban, still under the guise of making the public safer. Will they ever learn?

Yes. I have a Florida permit also, and NH, UT, NV, and OR. Later this year I'll take a shot at my own state. It's hard to be optimistic, knowing what I know about the process, but I'll try. And who knows, maybe there will someday be a Tell v. State of California to follow DC v. Heller. Could happen.

Good luck in your upcoming case. I'll support you. Florida shares reciprocity with a whole slew of other states, so that is nice that I can still carry as I drive through GA. CA is just lightyears behind... I thought your conservative Governor could have done something to help you. I haven't heard of any conservative legislation thus far, maybe its because Im so far away...

Support William Tell vs. The State of California.. I just hope you don't end up in the 9th Circuit.. Very bad things come from that court.

Unfortunately, that is the only route to the US Supreme Court. The only way to avoid that would be if the Kalifornia Supreme Court properly interprets a properly decided DC v. Heller. Now, what are the chances of that?

So you would, I didn’t realize that all of CA had to go through them. Good luck with that. They might try and sentence you to a psych evaluation like the Iowa grandmother was sentenced for counseling girls outside the abortion clinics. She was just talking to people, what youre suggesting is far more egregious. Let people have guns? !? Are you kidding.
