There is a graphic in a recent Washington Times [Monday, Jan 14] showing Republican congressmen giving up seats in states all over the country. Just like the many Dems who retired after the Gingrich Revolution it seems that congressmen don’t enjoy working in DC if they are in the minority.

Nineteen Republicans have announced that they are not going to run, and three others have already resigned.
(22 total)
6 dems are not seeking re-election.
Five Republican senators are not seeking re-election, no dems making that choice.

Snow will move in to NW SC after 2pm. Will that benefit Fred the most?

North SC is Huckabee country. I would think it helps McCain more than Fred.
Might make Fred's placement better.

It would be painful watching the media depict the GOP as a bunch of knuckle dragging throwbacks for supporting Huck.

The MSM will withhold this depiction until (Baptist) God forbid Huck wins the nomination. Then watch out!

Romney Thompson is the the ticket to beat the demorats.

Unfortunately, it is a ticket that will never exist. If Fred can't be president, he doesn't want any position in Washington. Same with McCain. Possibly Rudy too, but I'm not sure. I would literally bet my life that both McCain and Fred want to be president, or nothing at all.

I am curious because Huck won here in Iowa and I saw NO organizing, at least along traditional lines. I want to know how he’s doing it.

I know my county, and there wasn’t even a county chair here. I cannot figure out how he got it done under all our noses of the usual organizers in this county, considering we are all pretty tapped in and it’s a tight knit county.

Anecdotal evidence suggests it’s thru the churches with a generous dose of MSM backing that up. I think if Team Fred can figure out Huck’s formula, it can be countered pretty easily.

Upstate it’s about 40 and raining right now. The snowing is coming though.
Hubby and I voted a little while ago.
Have to say, earlier this morning I went out for a grocery run and saw a big dark blue(?) Ford pickup with a big oval “Fred ‘08” sign in the bed, looked awesome. Also Fred magnets on the doors. The guy was behind be at a light and I put my arm out the window and gave him the thumbs up. Not sure if he noticed but it really made my day to see that truck driving around. Personally I think it will be a great reminder for people to go and vote (hopefully for Fred!).
Anybody know who that guy with the truck is? That sign had to have cost a pretty penny.

If Dems crossover and vote today in ours, are they then not allowed to vote in theirs?

Correct. You are only allowed one vote between the two primaries.

The term RINO has gotten so deluted it’s meaningless now. I remember when there was a set group (McCain, Hagel,Snowe etc). Now I’ve seen people refer to even Ann Coulter as a RINO!

Ann has endorsed Mitt Romney, if that isn't a sign of the RINO-virus, you tell me what is.

My latest poll shows McCain, Huckabee, and Fred tied.

Yes, the Leftist portions of SC are down south. Given how weather effected turnout for McCain in MI bad weather down south should held Fred.

For practicality's sake, the situation is not the same for a House member. If Hunter resigned at this point, there would have to be a special election scheduled held, but since House members are elected every two years, the "special" election would be put off until the general election in November. If a Senator's term were to expire at the end of the year as is Hunter's, I would allow them the same consideration. However, in Liebermann's case, his term did end, yet he ran for re-election to the Senate at the same time he was running for VP. To me, this is just plain wrong.

In Hunter's case (as with any House member), I will concede that he probably knew he was going to run for President as he ran for re-election in 2006, so he should have resigned his seat then. This also would apply to Sen. Clinton who should have refrained from seeking re-election to the Senate in 2006 since she knew she would be running for the Whitehouse in 2008.

Ah, you convinced me. I’m not voting for him in 2008, for sure. LOL.

If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck

Well I'm sure glad you are not because that's the dumbest thing I heard in a while.
