What do you think about a talk show host clearly lying about Huckabee’s plan. Is that OK as long as they aren’t lying about your guy?

“What do you think about a talk show host clearly lying about Huckabee’s plan. Is that OK as long as they aren’t lying about your guy?”

My guy is Paul, they always lie about him.

Huckabee was an open-borders amnesty guy for years. SO to be honest, I think it’s Huckabee lying about his position.

Huckabee announces his desire to give scholarships to illegal aliens in his January 11, 2005 State of the State address. Huckabee doesn’t say “illegal aliens”. He uses the word “status”. But a newspaper account makes clear his intentions, “Illegal aliens would be eligible for state taxpayer-funded college scholarships and in-state college tuition rates under a bill that was endorsed by a committee of the Arkansas House of Representatives on Tuesday. House Bill 1525 by Rep. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock, is part of Gov. Mike Huckabee’s legislative package. It easily won favor in the House Education Committee, of which Elliott is chairman.” (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette 2/23/2005)

Rep. Joyce Elliott, D-Little Rock, said she had already planned to file a bill granting instate status to the children of immigrants who live in Arkansas and have applied to state universities. “It’s nice to know we will have an ally in the governor’s office.” (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette 1/12/05)

April 2006

John Hawkins: Let me ask you about the hot issue of the day, illegal immigration. When it comes to illegal immigration, do you think we should allow illegal aliens currently in the country to become citizens or at least give them the opportunity to or the opportunity to stay as guest workers, or do you think they should have to leave the United States?

Mike Huckabee: Well, I’m not as sure that leaving and then coming back is as important as it is to acknowledge that what they’ve done is illegal, pay a fine, and then get in line behind the people that are going through the process of being here legally. It’s important that we have a legal process.

We can’t just ignore our laws. We either change them or enforce them for clearly this land is a land that is dependent on more workers than we currently have for many of the jobs that Americans honestly don’t want. So there is, I think, a reality that we shouldn’t just sort of look the other way. I don’t believe in amnesty. That’s not a good idea, but creating a pathway where people can have a form of restitution to make things right, to understand that laws have to be obeyed or some consequences have to be applied. That makes more sense than trying to deport 12 million people or build a 700 million, ehr...700 billion dollar fence (Hawkins Note: Most estimates of the cost of the fence are in the 2-5 billion dollar range), whatever it’s going to cost.

I don't care what Huckabee says at this point; he was a patsy for Tyson's illegal hiring practices for years while he was Governor of Arkansas.

By the way, the "tough ROAD to hoe" comment brands you as a typical Huckabee supporter.

Huck wants amnesty for illegals (in-state tuition as well) but if you are a patriotic American citizen with dual citizenship he wants to make you a criminal for using your other passport or voting in another country’s elections.

Sure way to lose all ex-pat and dual citizen voters.
