Not to sound cold, but...don’t people die untimely deaths all the time ? Celebrity ? Why should I care any more than if my mortgage broker or kid’s teacher died ?

I think the point is that you wouldn’t make jokes about the death of the teacher, so you shouldn’t about the death of a celebrity, either. Still, your point that you shouldn’t care any more for a celebrity than anyone else is well taken.
