Letterman Runs Hands Through JRE's Hair (and Disses O'Reilly)
The Hotline ^ | January 22, 2008 | Transcript

Posted on 01/23/2008 5:06:47 AM PST by Aristotelian

From the transcript of John Edwards' appearance tonight on the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN ...

Dave: “Yeah, yeah, well, good luck to you. What a grueling grind this is. And this is the second time now that you’ve been through this, first as vice president, now as a presidential nominee, or candidate, campaigning. Could I just mess your hair up a little bit?” (audience laughs)

Edwards: “You want to? Go ahead.”

Dave: “Do you mind?”

Edwards: “I don’t mind.”

Dave: “Has it ever been messed up?” (Edwards laughs; Edwards runs his hands through his own hair) “No, no.” (Dave runs his hands through Edwards hair, really messing it up, and Edwards, laughing, tries to mess up Dave’s hair; audience applauds) “Senator John Edwards, ladies and gentlemen. Good luck the rest of the way, thank you for being here.”

(Dave and Edwards shake hands. Then, Dave tries to fix Edwards’ hair; audience applauds)

(snip)

Dave: “Well, you what I’ve noticed about Bill O’Reilly, and he’s a marvelous communicator, but he doesn’t really care much about telling the truth.” (audience laughs)

Edwards: “Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing.”

Dave: “Very entertaining, and I like when he’s on the show, but if you say one thing – “

Edwards: “But most of what he says is crap.”

While I can’t condone even touching Edwards, I have nothing against “dissing” the blowhard O’Reilly.

Dave Letterman is pretty funny but I watch Leno mostly (when I watch them at all...max 5 times a month). He is not nearly as sarcastic. As far as Bill O’Reilly goes, his show has just gotten boring to me. I used to not be able to do anything when his show comes on, but now I seem to be doing other things while he is on and only catching small snipids of material. I wish he would get more exciting again because right now it is a snooze fest.

Edwards: “But most of what he says is crap.”

Might mean something except for the fact that ALL of what Edwards says is crap.

A smart move on Edwards part, but it will cause a further split in the Dem base.

Blacks will vote for Obama. Feminists will vote for Hillary, and the rest will go for Johnny.

Amazing how obsessed some in MSM are with Bill O’Reilly. Olberman acts like a “woman scorned.” He obsession with O’Reilly is embarrassing to watch. Although I rarely flick to his show, the few times I have - like yesterday for a second - he had O’Reilly as the worst person or some such nonsense. Olberman must be gay and was rejected by Bill. His jealousy only drives away viewers.

Letterman’s monologue was full of mean jokes about the Republicans and gave the Mohammad and Bitch a little razzing but jokingly light for what was available for him to use. Letterman’s bias is about as thinly veiled as Olbermans’.

I’m not a big O’Reilly fan (that is to say, I’m not one), but I happened to catch his point on his radio show yesterday about the contention between he and Edwards. Edwards has been touting 200,000 homeless servicemen in the US and states it’s because of the state of the G Bush economy. BO’Re’s reply to that has been to say A) there’s not 200,000 homeless servicemen in the US (what have we learned about democrat estimates of the homeless population) and that B) the preponderance of homeless servicemen are that way because of drug use and mental illness, not some economic reason.

I’d say that O’Reilly is correct on both points.

The women I know hate her worse than I do. She’s got the Dem female vote wrapped up. I don’t think she’s going to do well at all with GOP women.

I’m not a fan of O’Riley either, but since the Dem’s machine couldn't’t silence Rush or Hannity, they moved on to a softer target.

The women I know will not vote for her. They think they HAVE to vote for her because she is a woman. Thats why they are not going to.
...kinda like some women reject the color pink because “all women are supposed to like pink”. Thats the way real feminists work. They try to do exactly opposite of what society expects women to do.

A REAL feminist would hate Hillary because of the way she let Bill treat her.

I note that Letterman didn't offer any examples to back up his statement.

Yes, but the women in the Dem party are not real feminists. They consider weakness, stupidity and helplessness virtues. They are sheep. Just like the Democratic men.

A minor correction, if I may:

...the preponderance of homeless who claim to be servicemen are that way because of drug use and mental illness, not some economic reason.

A huge proportion of the homeless falsely claim that they're veterans. Ask them what their MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) code was. More often than not, you'll just get a blank stare. Someone who's really served will have an immediate response.

B.G. (Jugs) Burkett thorouhly debunked the 'massive Vietnam vet homeless population' myth in his book Stolen Valor.

Edwards: "I think we've got a pretty good chance."

Yeah, right. Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Wednesday: Obama leads Clinton 43 percent to 25 percent in the rolling tracking poll, with John Edwards a distant third at 15 percent.
