Goodbye Rudy, Tuesday (Giuliani a goner--tawdry personal life a turnoff)
NY TIMES ^ | January 23, 2008 | Timothy Egan

Posted on 01/25/2008 5:08:53 PM PST by Liz

For 50 days, Giuliani had the Sunshine State nearly to himself........he’s sucked up to Miami's Cuban vote, pandered in Cape Canaveral about the space program, tried to scare retirees in South Florida. There he is riding in a fire truck in a Miami parade, trailed by angry firefighters who blame him for multiple failures when NY was attacked.......in the Panhandle, he's the consummate Yankees fan trying to look down-home on the Redneck Riviera.

Yet, the more they see of Giuliani, the more his poll numbers tank...... Rudy’s campaign is in meltdown. Amazing how much voters bring up his tawdry personal life. They laugh about Rudy in drag and Rudy when he lived with a gay couple.....in a state full of mothers who live for phone calls from long-distance adult children, there’s one thing they can’t abide – Rudy’s wreck of a family life......people roll their eyes over the story of how Giuliani’s third wife picked him up in a cigar bar while he was still married to the second Mrs. Hizzoner.

I heard no end of condemnation over the mayor’s estrangement from his two children. He spent more than anyone but Mitt Romney in NH, and finished a distant fourth. And as Michael Powell and Russ Buettner documented in a remarkable piece in the Times earlier this week, Giuliani ruled by crushing anyone who dared to cross him.

I agree. It would be ironic if Rudy sneaked past John and Mitt who seemingly are tied tonight at 25% and won Tues. With early voting there, it could happen but proabably won’t. Still, the MSM piling hatred on Rudy makes one think that they also feared him . When the Times endorses any Pub, one is apt to wonder just when they will knife that person as Nov . nears. The hatred for Rudy but not for the Clintons in their tawdry relationships and corruption also makes one think that even some Pubs can be very self righteous.

“Rudy appears to dislike campaigning although he thrives well when holding office. “

Another thing he has in common with Fred. Both too genuine, perhaps, to hold high office. And a shame, because both running as Federalists.

I would love to see Rudy over Homeland Security. I think Romney likes him, FWIW.

Trying to compare a LIBERAL TURD like Rudy with a Godly man like George Washington either shows you have 0% knowledge about Rudy’s past, or you really like to take part in the crassest of propaganda!

” Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Hamilton and yes Giuliani “ What name does NOT belong in this series?

Giuliani does not end in “n”.

Boy, it is almost enough to make me support Rudy Giuliani, an article like this from the New York Times. If they are against it, I am almost always for it.

I find that if I agree with the NYT about anything, it's time to visit a therapist.

His well-documented track record calls nearly every position he's taken and statement he's made on the campaign trail into question.

His problem is that he's a seriously flawed candidate who really doesn't have the credibility to run on any issue. Heck, he doesn't even the credibility to run as a Republican candidate.

Yes, they do because he's the strongest fiscal conservative of the bunch.

And if there's one thing the commies at the NYT hate the most, even more than social conservatism, it's fiscal conservatism.

The lesson to be learned here is that you have to show up to play in order to win. For that, I will give Mitt Romney credit

I am sure all future candidates are learning this message, and it will turn Iowa and New Hampshire into bigger donnybrooks in future campaigns. It also further raises the stakes in the ugly state against state fight over "who goes first" and, to add insult to injury, will get candidates campaigning earlier and earlier and earlier....

"Rudy would be a great president, and the GOP races needs him on Super Tuesday."

Rudy would get trounced like Mondale against Reagan if he's upped by the GOP against Hillery. It's time everyone realizes Guiliani is a loser outside of NYC.

"How does his tax cut proposal..."

Rudy and his partners personally and directly benefited from his cutting property taxes in NYC, most of his tenants didn't.

"...his vow to nominate Justices like Scalia..."

Name one appointment he made as "Magnificent Mayor" that fits that description. One was the head of a national faggot organization. I'd say he's the Mayor Maynot.

"...his stance on the WOT..."

It's his only claim to fame outside of NYC, his only spotlight to national public reknown. We'll touch on the broken clock syndrome next.

"...and his support of the DC appellate decision on guns...."

Even Rudy knows what he did in NY won't fly outside the confines of his city. It's the broken clock syndrome, but Rudy's is a digital and is stuck on 9:11.

Rudy knows what he did in NY won't fly outside the confines of his city.......

One of his dumbest political moves was harping on his tenure in NYC.

(Scoff) like America really cares about NYC.

Rooty doesn't seem to realize if liberals elected him, that's a big turnoff in the heartland.

The old charm of PCB is gone. It is much like Destin or Gulf Shores. You can barely see the water between the condos.

I don’t know about the prices but I imagine that you are correct.

I first stayed at Long Beach in 1960....I loved it too!!

Doubtful. Rudy could pick off NY, NJ, Penn, Conn, MD and make California competitive.

What red states would Hillary pick off?

Zero.

Here's a series of names:

" Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Hamilton and yes Giuliani "

What name does NOT belong in this series?

Certainly Washington and possibly Jefferson, depending on whether you believe the Sally Hemmings story or not (I don't) - the other three were/are flagrant adulterers.

Rudy sold his soul a long time ago and got what? He deserved to go down. The idea that religion, God, faith and morals do not matter is, quite simply, repugnant.

I believe you mean Go Back to the rat party. I think both he and Spector started out as rats.

You're presuming that we don't.

I'm against liars and statists wherever I find them. I won't spare Rudy just because he has an (R) after his name - he's as bad as anyone on the other side of the aisle.
