No — it’s more like proof that the Fred Thompson candidacy was never about Fred, but about helping McCain. Fred has a long history with McCain, he was co-chair of McC’s campaing in 2000, and Baker, a big McCain supporter recruited Fred to run. Maybe those who said, that it was all about splitting the conservatives, than push them into the McCain camp were right all along.
