Ring a bell? In 2001, a 32-year-old Marine captain and CIA officer named John Michael Spann was killed there in a prison riot, thus becoming the first American combat death in Afghanistan.
Not incidentally, Spann, before violence broke out, had interrogated an uncooperative John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban. This all took place before the U.S. military completely toppled Afghanistan's Taliban oppressors.
Nearly seven years later, American-liberated Mazar-i-Sharif has again made headlines — well, one or two — as the site of the prison where a 23-year-old Afghan journalist has been detained for three months (and counting) on blasphemy charges. These charges derive, Reuters reports, from Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh "distributing an article which said Prophet Mohammad had ignored the rights of women.”
Then there's Halabja.
Remember Halabja? The name is notorious for being the town where in 1988, 15 years before Operation Iraqi Freedom, Saddam Hussein gassed thousands of Kurdish civilians to death.
This month, American-liberated Halabja made headlines as the site of the court that sentenced a Kurdish author in absentia to six months in prison for blasphemy: namely, for writing in a book that Mohammed had 19 wives, married a 9-year-old when he was 54, and took part in murder and rape.
And not just blasphemy laws. Jihad doctrine; Sharia (Islamic law); designs for a global caliphate through jihad (terrorism) and the spread of Sharia (Islamization): We pretend they are not factors in the Free World's experience with Islam.
We certainly don't discuss their implications for the freeness of the world. Look at what passes for "debate” among our presidential candidates: Republicans argue over who supported "the surge” first; Democrats argue over who will withdraw troops first.

And where is the United Nations? Isn’t free expression considered a basic human right? From the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights:

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
Article 19.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
I eagerly await the UN’s condemnation of Sharia Law.

We on the outside, in Dar al Harb, the regions of the world where Islam does not dominate, are not mere bystanders, but we are also not central to the issues at stake. We will need to fight a holding action to prevent that struggle from ruining our lives, and will need to do so until the community of Islam has been able to resolve this internal conflict.
This revolutionary movement deeply believes in a return to an imagined short Golden Age, the 29 years after the death of the Prophet, (632 to 661), which is the period of the reign of the rashidun, the four righteous caliphs, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman, and Ali. It is a movement distinct from customary Islamic orthodoxy, which had learned to live with political structures, and it is a movement that is useful to certain unprincipled men within Dar al Islam. It espouses certain values that most of us on the outside see as anti-human, and it is these striking and extreme postures that, in the end, may cause it to fail, and may cause other more adaptable theologies within Islam to prevail.
There are differing views as to the origins of this movement. Some believe that it has been implicitly present all along. Most Americans seem to believe that it is a child of the austere Sunni branch of the followers of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and that it dates to his alliance with Muhammad ibn Saud in 1744.
Others, including myself, would tie it more closely to the Muslim Brotherhood founded by Hassan al-Banna in Ismailiyya in 1928. But in fact, it does not matter. No one in this room will see the end of that struggle.

True, but then, no one should even try. Just as we, as a society, can not abide outright thieves and murderers to remain in our midst, neither can we allow the inclusion of the Muslim in our land. In 1991, when Obama joined the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, he pledged allegiance to something called the Black Value System, which is a code of non-Biblical ethics written by blacks, for blacks.
It encourages blacks to group together and separate from the larger American society by pooling their money, patronizing black-only businesses and backing black leaders. Such racial separatism is strangely at odds with the media’s portrayal of Obama as a uniter who reaches across races.
In short, Obama’s “unashamedly black” church preaches the politics of black nationalism. And its dashiki-wearing preacher — who married Obama and his wife and now acts as his personal spiritual adviser — is militantly Afrocentric. “We are an African people,” the Rev. Jeremiah Wright reminds his flock, “and remain true to our native land, the mother continent.”
Wright once traveled to Libya with black supremacist Louis Farrakhan to meet with terrorist leader Muammar Qaddafi. Last year at a Chicago gala, Wright honored his old pal Farrakhan, who’s fond of calling whites “blue-eyed devils,” for lifetime achievement.
Obama appears to have sided with opposition leader Raila Odinga, head of the same Luo tribe to which Obama’s late Muslim father belonged.
Obama’s older brother still lives there. Abongo “Roy” Obama is a Luo activist and a militant Muslim ...
Odinga is a Marxist who reportedly has made a pact with a hard-line Islamic group in Kenya to establish Shariah courts throughout the country...
Would Obama put African tribal or family interests ahead of U.S. interests?

I wish that was the case. Just the opposite is happening. Their mosques go up all around us, Islam is taught as a religion of peace in our schools, CAIR has silenced Freedom of Speech by getting those who denounce islamic fascism fired...I could go on and on...
Go to know that our blood and treasure has built two new Sharia countries.
Absolutely correct. Americans do not understand what it is like to have religion dictate every breath taken each day. It is beyond their native ken. Islamics will always stick together under that religious regime, against all comers.
Americans do not unbderstand that fact. And so those who lead us down this path to accomodation will one day invi=oke a tragedy beyond comprehesion for our nation, before it awakens to "steel" itself.
I hope we will have it within us, when that day comes, to chase them to the ends of the earth and destroy them utterlly, so that never again will they raise their heads in Islamic Union, but remmain scattered , and disorganized, puruing their religion without plans for a World Caliphate.
Our free society is being used against us. The culture of freedom to which we are accustomed is being used against us. The American public needs to know how that works, but there is no way to inform them, yet.
If Obama becomes president, America will get a little taste.
Maybe that is what we need.
The “blockbuster” (although it wasnt exactly that) has already been made, back in the days when communist Russia was the more obvious threat.
It was called “No way out” Starring Kevin Costner as an officer in the UN Navy - believe it or not - who gets himself an invite to be an “advisor” to a big time Washington politician. It’s written as a thriller, but the similarities are eerie.
