Here in Arlington, VA, you can get maybe a one-bedroom condo for that, even in today’s depressed housing market (which hasn’t affected close-in Arlington much at all, by the way).

I was born and grew up in the Triad area of NC. Kinda thinking about retiring and going back. Fortunately, NC doesn’t tax federal retiree pensions!

In 2003, we sold our 2200 square foot rambler w/ 1/2 acre in Annandale,VA for $400,000 and bought a 3900 square foot colonial 1.5 acre for $300,000 in this same neighborhood. I lived up there for 18 years. I hate going back even to visit friends.
